I am new to the site and don't know if this is the right place for this question.
I am in the market for a corvette and would like to know how to find out how many corvettes were produced with certain options. For instance, i am looking at a 1970 convertible with a 454 and assume it is fairly rare. Also I am looking at a 1969 coupe with a 427 with 3 two barrels. Which one would be more rare?
Thanks for any help.

...would like to know how to find out how many corvettes were produced with certain options....

2072 '69 tri-power 400 hp; 2722 435hp versions; you will need to determine which engine you're looking at.
4473 '70 454s.

Purchase a copy of The Corvette Black Book by Michael Antonick. A handy item to have around!

This will help:

Good luck.
:)

The '69 would be considered 'more rare'. more valuable and generally more desirable than the '70 (no offence to '70 owners) but this usually also equates to more expensive to purchase.

The above only applies to genuine, original factory set ups. Clones are very common and not worth nearly as much. Beware. :thumb

................
the Barrett Jackson or the Mechum auctions is the best place to shop for several examples of high end collector cars...and they have drivers also..
but as for me i think they are all ment to be driven

ps
the 69 will be the most expensive 427/435 hp well over 100,000..bucks..
427 400 hp maybe less a little less than 100,000..some even closer to 50,000

question...
if your gonna spen a couple hundred grand on old corvettes why not get the big dog, a Z1R.,.brand new..?
and buy a spare for storage...?
unless you opt for the low horse motor

By the way, bopengr, Welcome to the :CAC

Yes, it's the correct website to be! :cool
Yes, this is the correct sub-forum.:thumb

When it comes to buying an old Corvette, this site is easily the best reference you'll find anywhere in any medium.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have now found a 65 coupe that I like. It is red, 327 350 horse, 4 sp, side pipes, AC, Teak steering wheel, telescoping column, black leather interior, no PS or PB.
Its an older restoration but still real nice.
So, I'm torn between the 69 with the 427 and this one. Both are about the same price.
What do you think?

We will all have differing opinions based on criteria that means the most to each of us individually.

My question(s) would be:
1) What is your reason for buying the car? Why do you want a Corvette?
2) What is your long term plan for the car?

Those questions would lead me to one or the other.

life is full of tough decisions
i like air conditioned cars because i like hot weather
so its small block that can idle in 100 degree stop and go
only you can decide to invest in another car or donate this disposable income buying fly swats for pigmys
i know if you search your heart you will do the right thing
:w

I like the '73. She already been done so not much else to worry about. It's a C3 and not as expensive as the other two. The only vette with a chrome and rubber bumper. Wish I had a '73.
