After pulling off the valve covers, both of my heads are stamped #3782461, which should be correct for a 327/350hp. However the date codes are:
drivers side K15 and passenger side J275. Can anyone tell me what the dates are? Are they correct for a motor build date of 11-16-65?

thanks,

Oct 27 1965 & November 1 1965 About 2 weeks before build date. Sounds right. Hope this holds you over till the experts respond.

Thanks, thats what I thought.

Forgot to add that the drivers head also had a GM8 stamp while the passenger head had a GM12 stamp. What's the difference?

Thanks,

Sorry but I don't remember what that indicates.

The GM8 and GM12 are foundry pattern numbers - many sets of master patterns were used to produce molds for high-volume castings, and the numbers identified which pattern set was used to make the mold for any casting; in the event casting problems were found later during machining, it told them which pattern set to look at for correction.

Just a funny note.... I just received my 63-64 NCRS judging manual today, and it says that cylinder head date codes are not checked. :confused

Hard to believe.

Probably cause they are hidden under the valve covers?
Nice to know they are right though.
