Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

here she is all done(pics)

thanks robert, thats we were going for. the chrome wheels and gold emblems
really set off the blackrose metallic paint. i will post more soon as i figure out
how to shrink em to fit in here.lol

jim,

the body did require some cracks to be fixed and the nose had
some shabby minor fender bender repair, but all is better now.
the entire job was just shy of 4,500 dollars but we had the car
shot with extra clear and wet sanded to a mirror finish no fat
ladies a@& on this car. what was done in the process

entire teardown of the car
stripped hood and bumpers
stripped and repaired moldings
repaired cracks in glass
repaired minor nose damage
replaced rear hatch weatherstripping
replaced minor support pieces
prepped the body
2 coats base
3 coats clear
wet sanded the entire car
compounded w/2 grits
and foam glazed twice

Re:

Thanks for the details- I live in MD and have a Chevelle I'm trying to get painted now, and was quoted $4K by Maaco just to fill sand and shoot it, so it's nice to have something to compare to.

Thanks and best of luck w/your car!

Jim

Really like the paint and the wheels. What type of wheels are they and who makes them ?? Im thinking of getting my 85 black coupe painted also.

:D Great looking Vette......Love the Color Black.....

Nice looking vette. What size rims are on the rear? I have 11's and they work out perfect with the 35's on the zr1 rims. Pictures will be posted a soon as I get something to download my pix off my sid card in my digital camera.

IMO, having rims open like that begs to have the calipers painted! :D

Moon,

Love the contrast of the black rims to the white body. :w Though the Z06's have red calipers, do you think that's too "ricer?"

Not at all! I just wanted the touch of red to set off the red bowtie on the centercap a little. It was a last minute decision when I was doing the job. The rest of the car (outside) is straight black and white. I LOVE it :cool

Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of a profile with the wheels and the hashmarks and no big 66 before this happened when I removed the #
DSCRemoveNumberPaintCameToo602_640.jpg

I gotta say, I was nauseated for several hours after this one :cry :(

the openings really do open things up quite a bit frt and rear so
have drilled and slotted rotors on all four corners red calipers
for a little extra adde something and red corvette lettering on one
spoke of each rim. need to get some low res pics so i can post here.

if you all really want to see you could join my yahoo. corvette group
my pics are in the folder chris's pics
