Sweet, trust your instincts on the '87. If you see abuse whilst in the throes of passion on his car, imagine what you'll find once reality sets in. Nine g's doesn't sound like much of a deal for the car, that may well be a cash alligator. Parts and labor on these technologically advanced cars is pricey; eating up a grand or two very quickly.

I'd keep looking and take my time. You DO have a nice ride to cruise for a deal in. Time is on your side with the C-6 launch and the economy sputtering. Use it to your advantage, as any emotion and haste will cost you. No '87 is going UP in price, either. In best of times, I won't buy a used car that is not real sweet, especially a perforance car.

BTW, I recall a thread of some time ago (search above) abouts tips on looking at used Vettes that might save you some time and improve your input. :w

WhalePirot,
That's kinda what I thought. . . :( "the throes of passion" is quite the accurate description. But gut instinct says run away. . . The dealer said, "It a really great car, and what's under the hood is in "pretty good shape". Then he asked, "What are you going to do with that?" (Referring to SWEET 04). What? I can't have 2 'vettes? I've gone by several more times since the initial visit and I'm still on the fence. Oh yeah, he also said "No pressure, but it's (not SHE) going to auction soon." I guess I should just let it go and wait. Thanks for the lead to the thread re: used 'vettes. I'll search for it.

Well, the "throws of passion" is a good thing though. Through the years of buying all my cars I really weigh heavily that initial gut response I get. You pretty much know right away whether the car is "yours" or not. In fact, if I don't get that initial (oh my God I'm going to die if I don't have this car) feeling then I pass it up....

However, rational contemplation and consideration is always important too and you certainly don't want to pay too much for a lemon.

But just think how much fun it would be to bring her back to life!!:_rock

You got it Dawn! RESURRECTION ! ! ! That's what I'm talkin' about ! But on the flip side, I didn't get the "I'm gonna die without this car" feeling like I did with SWEET04 (I knew I was taking her home the first time I saw her. . . in spite of the other 'Vettes that I test drove. . .) So, I guess, the bottom line is 'no-go'. My husband will be relieved. I'll give her another drive-by tonight and see if my heart beats out of my chest. Hmmmm:confused
