I am going to do some improvements on my wife's C6 vert. Any recommendations on the above?

Hi there,
Be very cautious on modifications to the exhaust. The PCM is VERY SENSITIVE and can pick up converters and sensor problems very easily.
Power gains can be very good, however, some customers do not view the problems as being worth the power gains.
I would suggest leaving it alone at this point.

I agree with C5specialist with the sensitivity. I have Supermaxx headers hi flow cats and Rte 66 exhaust with a real safe tune done by Jim Hall. Never have had an issue. Do what you want to your car. Remember though you are the one responsible if things go wrong. Noise may be an issue if it is your wifes car so........

Anyway

Merry Christmas to you

i have long tube headers high flow cats and billy boat 3" ovals along with 160 stat thicker plug wires and calloway honker cold air intake my c6 dynos at 398 rear wheel horse power but i did have it dyno tuned to make sure that no trouble lights would come on

Is that advice specific to C6 cars? I put Borla exhausts on my wife's C5 coupe and she loves them for the sound. I never thought about a computer issue, and never had any problems. Now she wants Borlas on her C6...

usually when a cat back system is put on there is no computer or check engine light problems that occur but when you do cold air intake and headers and stat usually the check engine light will come on not because of a real problem but because the computer cannot understand all the extra air flow and different exhaust pressures. so if the car is running fine and the fob or on board computer does not make car run at half power then wait a few ignition sequences if they come on to see if they will correct themselfs or go off but if the check engine light continues take it too a shop have it dyno tuned and they will fix the issue.
basically the air flow makes the cars parameters higher then the stock calculations of the computer so they adjust it for the flow and it works fine

Nick--
Thanks for the input. I understand the older cars better, but a lot of the newer computer controlled functions are past me. Do you have any specific ideas about exhausts for Terri's C6 that will improve the sound (louder and deeper) or is Borla a good choice? Thanks again.

the borla exhaust to my ears have a great sound even as just a cat back but i have also heard corsa touring which are a good sound but not too loud and then if you want a real big rumble something like a B&B stinger is loud and throaty but in all truth just go to the websites and most will have a test sound for you to here and as far as picking the right exhaust for you that can only be determined by you and terri
but best of luck and i am sure after this much research you guys will be happy with your descision \
hey also let me know what you end up with one more thing to take into consideration is you have a 427 in that zo6 and i only have a a 366 so the sound might still be a little different

Just make sure you get it tuned after any mods other than a cat back.:)
