Hi Folks, '05 Question, Mirror whacky!

I've got an '05 with all them buttons on the rear view mirror. Onstar etc. What would make the RED with WHITE CROSS on it come on, on its own? Mine came on and off today for the first time and I have no idea why. ANY HELP OUT THERE? I don't subscribe to onstar or any of that stuff.

I wouldn't think it should come on by itself. According to the Onstar manual it's the emergency button which would normally have to be pushed in order to activate. The manual says:
Emergency Button
Push this button to send a priority
call to an OnStar Advisor. You will
hear a chime followed by the words,
Connecting to OnStar Emergency.”
The Advisor can contact the nearest
emergency services provider who
can dispatch ambulance, police,
fire, or other services to your
location. You can also push this
button if you see somebody else
in an emergency situation.

It could indicate a malfunction I suppose? Even though you don't subscribe you could push the blue button to connect to an Onstar advisor who might be able to help/diagnose what's going on.

red light on mirror(onstsar)

Onstar told me that I woulsd have to subscribe for them to tell me if the red light stays on all the time !!
Then one told me its always on !

It comes and goes. Mostly stays on dimly. Then spmetimes it goes away.

Yup...take it to the dealer/service department. They should be able to figure out what's going on.
