1988 corvette no vacum leaks, high idle unplug mass air flow idles better as soon you plug mass air or connect idle goes up to 1300? any ideas

When you disconnect the MAF, you force the ECM to operate in open loop which uses preset values. Any codes? Is this a new issue? I would clean the MAF wires using MAF cleaner fluid and check the MAF connectors. Idle issues I've worked on were related to defective injectors or TB related (worn shaft, dirty, defective/wrong IAC or min air speed not adjusted right). Another member had wacko idle issues on his L98 that went away after replacing the MAF. Before spending money on replacing parts, I would invest in the FSM.

John,
Welcome to CAC!!! It would help us all out if you kept your specific issue in just one thread. Three are open on the same topic. One old thread that you responded to says you have a 58mm TB. I responded to one thread, Boom responded to another. Just trying to keep all the facts together as we help you work this out. Can your provide answers to these questions? Any codes? Is this a new issue? Do you have the stock TB? Any scanner data?
