The company I work for is developing a pump for Audi. It is going to go in the Diesel powered version of their Q7 SUV's. We have been working on this project for well over a year now, and it has had its ups and downs, like any project.

A group of Audi engineers came for a visit last week, to check out our facility, and see how the pump was assembled.

Yesterday, I was tasked with escorting them off site to show them the lab I use to do all the environmental testing I do. My boss wanted to put me in a car with 2 of the Audi engineers, and our lead engineer on the project so we could discuss test procedures and what not. :W I pouted for a second, and pointed out the office window to my car, and he gave in pretty quickly.

So I pulled around to the front of the building, and when it came time to load up, all 4 of the Audi engineers were giving each other looks, trying to figure out who gets to ride in the cool car. The senior Audi engineer won, but when he opened the door, they all crowded around to check out the interior, and they seemed impressed.

The guy that rode with me seemed to be somewhat surprised at the build quality. At lunch, one of the other engineers asked what he thought, and he said he really liked the feel of the chassis, the cabin was quiet enough that one could hear the growl of the exhaust, all in all he was pretty impressed. Another engineer asked about his impression of the interior, he replied that it was nice, for an American car, to which I had to laugh.

Anyway, all in all it was a good day. Lust got the thumbs up from 4 German automotive engineers! Tadge Juechter and the rest of the Corvette engineering team done good with the C6!

P.S. There were no burn-outs. It was wet, cold and raining. ;squint:

Very nice Jason. :thumb

Yeah, it's a common thing to put down the interior (as plastic, cheap etc) of the car, but usually, when people get to see one themselfes, they rethink their preconcived notions. :)

I've always been pleased with the quality of the interior of the 'Vettes I've owned and driven. IMO, I spent the money on the powertrain and suspension. So what if I have a typical Chevy interior in my 'Vette? :v

The engineer did qualify his statement about the interior later though. He did not mean to imply he thought the quality of the interior was poor, just a different style than what Audi uses. Audi (and BMW for that matter) use hard plastics, and wood in the interior of their cars, where as the C6 interior uses softer materials such as leather, and a foam rubber.

The Audi engineer should undestand that this my be because of "crashworthiness" reasons...:thumb

Hmmmm, Audi does have great engineering as proved by their wins in all forms of racing. They brought diesel to the forefront @ LeMans...:naughty:

No argument here. I can tell you first hand how demanding Audi's engineers are. :bash

Watching the Audi R10 TDI tear around the track was pretty impressive.
