If I were looking, I'd go see that last one in San Diego., sounds like the dogwork is done and you can see what shape the fiberglass is in. If it has a decent chassis and engine, it's reasonable. And, it's close.
 
MAYBE back in the hunt again

I found a REALLY ROUGH 63 convertible.. which might be perfect!!!!!!

I think you are on the right track if you are looking to build a modified car. No reason to pay for parts that you aren't going to use.
