Hello I read all the posts daily and really enjoy the forum. I have a
66 L71 vert . this morning I was planning to take a drive...NOT.
pulled the hood release ....The cable either broke or came loose. Any
ideas on a way to open the hood.
Thanks vette pilot

Remove the splash guard on the driver's side and you can reach up and pull on the release mechanism.

I ran a second piece of stiff wire from the release lever through the firewall with a finger loop up under the dash on my '67 in case the main release wire breaks; did the same thing on my '57 (two emergency wires, '57 latches aren't cross-connected).

Thanks for the quick replys, I removed the drivers sides splash guard
laid a flash light inside the inner fender well so i could see. The cable
end had come loose . since I dont have a good car jack and my car has
side pipes it was a difficult reach. I ended up holding a pipe wrench in
my hand and finially I tripped the spring loaded hood latch. I guess its
good preventive maintaince to check nuts/bolts to prevent little things
like this from happening.
thanks vette pilot

Glad you got that fixed! I don't have side-pipes so it was a little easier. My cable end had come loose as well, not broken. I re-did with LocTite.
