I have studied the AIM exploded view and wiring diagram in an attempt to assemble my horn button. I just don't get it. How does the horn button complete the circuit? Thanks for any help.

Horn button always supply the ground to activate the horn relay. It's the relay that actually send juice to the horns.

Thanks for the response. I am able to jump the relay and the horns do work. So from the relay on I am OK. It is the circuit that activates the relay that I am having trouble with.

Or the relay itself. Does it click when you ground the horn button wire?

I guess that is what I can't find. Sorry I should have made that clearer. Maybe it is stuck in the column. I think you got me on the right track Thanks again.

Okay, I finally get it. The wire is attached to the upper steering bearing. Found this pic in the Zip catalog.

And the horn button pushes the plunger and contacts the rim that complete the circuit to ground. Check to see that the rim on that bearing you displayed is clean; that the 2 plunger ends are clean; that the plunger plunges; and, that the buttom makes contact with the plunger. Do you get a shock when hitting the horn button?

Sorry again for not describing this very well. I originally couldn't find the horn wire that comes out of the column under the dash and I didn't know it ran to the bearing. Now I understand the circuit path. You bring up a good point though about cleaning the bearing as I'm sure it probably has fresh black paint on it from when I painted the column. Thanks.
