Horn problem

My newley aquired C4 has no voice. Can someone tell me where the horn relay is located ? I think the previous owner might have disconnected it. The wiring at the horn is intact however when the button is depressed nothing no voltage at the connector either so I suspect he pulled the relay since the horn button is sticky. Thanks All. DMG.

On my 84, the relay is located behind the multiuse panel (behind the plastic piece where the radio is) or it could also be located taped to the bundle of wires coming off the back of the fuse panel.

Let me ask you this...does your interior lights work and time out in about 20 seconds? Does your alarm work? The reason I ask is behind that same panel I mentioned above is a fuse for the alarm system. If that is pulled for some reason, the horns will not work.

It may be that your horns are just shot. The horns are very weak and blow out easily.

I check the voltage at the connector with it disconnected and no go with the horn depressed no clicking was heard from the relay so thats why I suspect something has been disconnected. As I said the horn button is pretty abused and proably stuck on the guy so he may have pulled a wire of something.

I know that the cap is a problem thats why i tried the yellow wire out of the wheel to the wheel center bolt and nothing.

Well heres the skinny. I pulled the info panel to find the security fuse missing. Once replaced the horns ( replaced ) now work as well. The only problem is there is a After market keyless entry installed ( the guy prodably didnt want to pop for the right key fob ) so I am kinda afraid to see if the alarm still works. Any one ever had anyting like this ? Thanks Dewayne

I got your message this morning. I called the dealer and the parts guy said that there is no listing for a key fob for 87 so he thinks there wasnt one available . This car has a aftermarket keyless entry system. I havent tried the locking the door thing yet to see is if the system works I will tonite though. Thanks for the help jon. Dewayne

run a search in the forums for aftermarket keyless entry and you should find what you want... a number of members have gone through this... it sounds like he couldn't figure out how to get the keyless and the alarm to work together, which is explained in this forum somewhere

Top of the page...just under the tab "PORTAL"..click search...type in "keyless" then hit the search button
