How do I turn off Dolby NR on the cassette player?

I tried using an MP3 player with a cassette adapter in the stock Bose Gold AM/FM/Cassette/CD player this morning. It played, but it sounded muffled. I noticed that this cassette player has Dolby B Noise Reduction which would explain the muffled sound (kinda like a blanket over each speaker when playing a source that was not encoded with Dolby). Unfortunately I don't see a way to turn off the Dolby NR. I read through the manual and there is not any mention of Dobly NR at all.

Should I get one of those FM transmitters from Arkon?

I'm not sure which is worse:
muffled sound through cassette or piping the sound through FM.

I'm about to drive 8+ hours to Bowling Green this weekend and I need lots of good tunes for the trip!

Thanks,
Jim

I hope your Bowling Green trip went well and you were able to listen to pleasant tunes on the drive.

There is no way that I know of to turn Dolby off. :(

Don't bother with an Arkon FM transmitter

I ended up buying the FM transmitter before the trip. It's WORTHLESS! It has a terrible static problem and the sound would not come through in stereo as the literature states. I might try a different model produced by iRock.

This one costs much more but supposedly has a more powerfull transmitter than the Arkon model.

It's hard to believe that the folks at Delco/Bose thought that every cassette played in this unit would be encoded with Dolby noise reduction. What about the tape of little Susie at her first band concert?

Oh well!
