Help! how do you diconnect injector wire from injector on 85 vet

easy

Hey guy I own an '85 and what I do is either grab the connector at the injector with thumb and forefinger and pull or if resists use a small pick like instrument to pull out the wire clip that secures the connector to the injector. Go in from the side and pull out away from injector. Be careful because it is very small and can get lost easily.:thumb

Thanks for the quick reply vettnut. I pulled off one by just pulling up... others seemed to resist...so didn't want to force it. I'll give your suggestion a try. thanks again!

your welcome

I used to always use the pick method which can be frustrating and time consuming then I saw my mechanic just give a tug and thought damn thats great!! I am always tearing into my motor to modify it so that was a help as dealing with the intake setups can be very time consuming:)

thanks again. I'm in the middle of trying to figure out a stumble i have. I checked Fuel Pump and it was low 32 lbs and loosing presure. Change FP and filter. Better presure 38 lbs and holds. Still have stumble but not as bad so was going to check resistance on injectors... any thoughts you have are appreciated. thanks!

u r certainly welcome glad to help

Is this issue at "tip in", meaning when you first give it throttle? Mine used to do that and just went away one day. Have you cleaned the throttle body of carbon? Carbon deposites in the throttle body can affect the idle and "off throttle" performance. I eliminated this issue of carbon build up by eliminating the crankcase vent tube which runs from the valve cover to the passenger side of the throttle body. What I read happens is when you drive the car and then park and shut off fumes from the crankcase travel up through this tube into the intake and carbon deposits form. Mine now stays spotless!!:beer

thanks. I clean up throttle body a couple months back. Actually wasn't bad. Just finished checking resistance on injectors, all exactly 17.3 so that seems fine. Thing is, it isn't throwing any codes. Just this anoying hesitation/deceleration under load. Meaning, i'm driving along, hit the gas and it almost feels like it goes from running on all 8 to running on 7.... No issue when cold, runs like a champ...closed....it does this stumble ting... I may pull the plugs for s*@ts and gigles...but hate the access.

Thanks again for the tip on disconnecting the harness from the injectors...applied a little more force and POP off they came.

u r certainly welcome

Have you done a tune up? Spark plugs, wires, cap lately?? What about the Throttle position sensor? They are sensitive and can develope a "flat spot"

Wires new in June, meant to do plugs at same time but kept putting it off everytime I looked at the num 8 plug.... You would think they could have made some room to get at that plug easier... Engineers don't change plugs... Changing plugs is on the menu for today. Thanks:beer

WOW!Changed the plugs, most were in good condition. #6 and #8 were a fouled up mess. New plugs in and my baby running like new, better then ever! The good news is everything I did before this really needed to be done so I didn't burn cash chasing this problem.

Appreciate the your help and time! Thanks Again!:beer

Cheers!!!!

Thats great news!!! And anytime!! Glad I could help out a fellow owner!!:beer:beer

focus on the bsics

Amen to the not burning cash thing, always makes sense trying the simple things first. Many times people blame the electronics on the modern injected cars when in fact the same rules apply as with the carburated cars of the past, spark and fuel needed to run properly.:thumb
