My 81 seems to take a long time for the engine to warm up and come off of fast idle. It usually takes 15 minutes for the car to settle down after starting it up in the morning (garaged). During that time, the engine is idling at about 2k rpm.

Is 15 minutes to warm up normal?

That is a great post. Is there an example with pictures?

I finally ended up buying a rebuilt carb and have it set up and a varying dwell now. Runs super. Sounds like a choke/pulloff adjustment is needed on yours - at least start there.

Depending on what you call warmed up? I think it will take around 10 to 15 minutes to get the water temp to 160 or higher. Even my old 4 cyl. 1.8 takes at least 10 minutes for the water temp to rise...

Btw. I think outside temp is also a big factor, normally its around 50 degrees F around here.
