Anyone know how best to test my dash gauge lights , all the dash lights are not working , there is power at the fuse , .Could it be a ground issue ???. Also when i lift up my shifter plate [ manual ] there seems to some ground connects to it ?? is this correct , i need these lights working before i can register the car so please any help will be very much appreciated

Probably the rheostat on the headlight switch. If the rheostat is good, it should dim up the illumination lights when you turn the knob. They wear out with time.

There could be a couple of system grounds under the shifter plate. One grounds the trim plate to the console harness. The assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the location of the grounds and how they connect.

The main dash harness grounds up under the dash on the driver's door hinge post. You may be able to see it with the dash in place, but it's dark up in there.

:)

Thanks Mike it was the dash ground when i pulled the driver kick panel off there was a blk ground wire with a loop hanging down and tucked behind it , hooked it up and it was like xmas , so far today i have got my courtesy lights to all work my blower fan and my wipers however the washer pump doesnt function , no noise from it when i press the button , is there a way to test this one , Regards Chris

Yep. That's the main dash harness ground.

Washer pumps are electric. There are kits to rebuild them. Most folks just replace them when they go bad.

Hi Mike , are you familiar with the pump wiring ?? i have 12 v at the two black wires on the front of the pump cover that feed down to a socket which hooks up below the washer solenoid there is also a yellow and light blue from the wiper switch i think that also connect in this junction one has 12v the reads nothing [ grnd ?? ] i know the solenoid is cactus as the tube coming out of the pumps is all cracked and it did have a small spring that flew out
Could this be the problem ?? and can that be bypassed [ headlight washer ] . I am thinking of installing a much more modern stile tank with its own pump and would like to wire this via my original washer wiper switch but once again not sure if it would function theu it , or i may have to run a seperate switch .
Regards Chris
