Hello,

I'm looking for any info, tips or suggestion on installing a Hurst Comp Plus shifter. My main concerns are:
Do I have to remove the consol?
Is there enough room between the tunnel and the shifter to get the alignment pin in and out?

DJ, I installed mine while the body was off, but should be able to help. Doing the job is much easier if you have a lift. That said, no, you don't need to remove the console. Whatever pin you can get in the alignment hole will come out with the body on. I think I used a nail. If you can push the shifter up through the boot before bolting the base plate to the trans it will be easy. Before attaching the linkage, check the trans gear selector levers. They hang down and have a bend. If my memory serves me 1-2 bends away and 3-4th is close to the trans. If this isn't right, the linkage will bind and be forced off the lever. Yes, I learned the hard way. Adjust the 1-2 and 3-4 stop nuts and you're done. Hope this helped.
