The HVAC dash control screen in my 2000 coupe has been dim for quite some time but the unit still functioned correctly. Today on the way home the fan stopped functioning with no warning. I figure I need to get the dash unit replaced but do you think the blower could have malfunctioned as well. I don't have the convenience of pulling the unit and sending it to ABS fixer so I am looking for new parts to have my service shop do the work. In the past I knew Gene Culley as the go to guy for parts. Is he still in the business. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi neighbor! I can't help you specifically with your parts inquiry... I replaced my head unit several years ago when it got too dim to read, except after full dark.

I did want to say hello from South Mississippi though and wish you luck with all the bad weather up your way of late!

It's hard to say about the blower but I doubt it's an issue with the HVAC controller. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can fix the dim HVAC very easy. There are 6 resistors on the circuit board that get cold solder joints after time. All you have to do is touch the soldering iron to them and your HVAC will be bright as new. If you want more info on the process let me know and I'll dig it up.

Yes Gene is still in business, although his phone # may have changed.

diagnose and check the easy stuff first
don't throw parts at it
