Man, this thing's gonna get me into trouble yet! If I don't behave myself, I'm gonna hafta sell the darn thing!! Every time I drive it, I find myself going faster than I really should. :L

Tonight I took the freeway back from Ricky & Ronnie's, after my evening's duties were through, and I just couldn't seem to keep the thing from under a hundred-miles-an-hour. It just wants to run, so easily too! And to top it off, it ain't even runnig as good as it should, in other words - it ain't runnin' right at all!

Sometimes it's difficult, when you aren't decided on what kind of car you wanted to end up with when you start a project in the first place.

All I know is that I got a screamer here.

"... making fire, noise, smoke and going scary quick in a straight line." Mine goes goes around corners and stops with the best of 'em, as well as going "scary quick" in a straight line.

Did I mention that a no time at all tonight was the accelerator pedal anywhere near the floor.

By the way, this is in no way to be considered an endorsement of breaking the law! I was wrong, and if I would have been caught, I would not deny my culpability of committing a crime and endangering the lives of others. I would accept my punishment as deserved.

Kinda tough to keep the speed down. Highway being the worst. Gotta constantly be aware of how fast you're going, that's how it is with me anyway. Truly America's finest!

A mechanic friend of mine who taught me the basics on my first vette, 72 LT-1, along time ago said... "All cars can get you into trouble. This car will get you into trouble quickly & it won't be small trouble! If you get hurt or wreck this car after all this work, I'll come & kick the sh!t out of you! Be smart." I was only 26 & the warning was needed. I know you're smart & respect what you made the car into. I have faith & know that the force is with you! The nice thing about a real performance car, like a vette, is that the car has nothing to demonstrate to the cognoscenti. The uninitiated don't matter. The mark speaks for itself! A little tickle of the go pedel every now & again, within sane limits, is good for the soul.

I got one speeding ticket in the nine years I owned my 72, but I learned very early what you already know about performance cars. Respect. I hope you enjoy the fruits of your labor for along time! Tom

It gets worse if you have some good tunes on the radio .

That is the main reason why I don't drive long distances, such as to Carlisle or BG, in either one of the vettes. With the large number of rustangs and ricers out there looking to be spanked:naughty:, there are just WAY to many targets/opportunities to get into trouble with (honest officer, he started it ).

Sometimes I think that my right foot has a brain of its own:crazy .

My theory is you have to pick your spots to get your jollies. Consistently going 20 (or more!) over the limit will obviously be costly. Know the road you're on and pick your spot to let her breath. My 89 is completely stock but the temptation is still there. Sounds like you only have to rest your foot on the go pedal to be pushing the limits. Ever get shin splints from lifting your foot?

Even at my age I have a terrible time.. I just make sure my wife is along.. Biggest problem is these vettes don't really get the kinks out till you hit 80 then they start to run and drive like they are supposed to . It would help if speed would scare me a little . Things on the road just aren't like they used to be.. oh those 735 mile trips from Ft Carson to NW Iowa,, the record time was 8 1/2 hrs. In a 69 chevelle. :naughty: Maybe I better cool it, I may have used up 8 of the lives.
Oh Ken.. why does everbody think they need a stereo? mine could not work for 3 months and I wouldn't know it.

they really shouldn't care if they need a radio or not, I think the sound of a 350 is music to anyone's ears :L I'll admit I've gone a bit faster than i should of before. My insurance premium for 6 months is probably equal to a Corvette payment being that I am still a young driver. If I think that's high now, I can't imagine what it would be if I got a ticket. I could say bye-bye to my car.

Yeah I hear ya Ken. Not that my car is blazing fast, but since I haven't had it to drive for a while, and babying it through endless break in periods it is hard now to keep my foot out of it after waiting so long, and finally being done with it, at least for a while.

Realize that a tri-digit ticket is instant jail, and pal, I don't wanna hear from you, with the call originating there. Ever think the speed is about something else?

I found the best antidote for public road speeding is the track. Closed, swept, controlled and rather safe.

Cruise control helps me control the urges (mostly), but the 745LI holds speed at 140!
