Hey Guys,
Corvette Action Center provided a link regarding Purchase of Dealer Invoices and Window Stickers for Corvettes. I tried that link and only got a page error 404. So I emailed Ms. Stacy Lillard at GM Media and told her about the bad link and she said she will contact the Webmaster about the problem. She provided me with an active link to the website: GM Media Archive

I thought all this was way cool, getting hold of some solid info about my car, etc., so I ordered my Dealer Invoice today--and will order a Window Sticker after I receive the Dealer Invoice. The info about the Window Sticker is linked from GM Media. I just thought this info might be of interest to you all. It may be a long shot, but I'll be that much closer to finding out WHO the original owner was. That is, of course, if the Dealership is still in business after all these years and keeps records!;shrug You might better save the link to your FAVORITES.

Later:)

I got my invoice through Allied-Vaughn on the forum here. Your invoice will show the name and address of the original dealer and the date the car was shipped and expected to be received by the dealer. Lots of other neat stuff on the invoice.

Yeah Mike, Allied-Vaughn is the same as the GM Media Archive link. The link that Vette79 provided didn't work until today. I just got off the phone with Ms. Lillard and she confirmed the Webmaster fixed the linking problem. The good thing with the actual website I posted is you can order the invoice online without having to download a form to fill out and mail. GM Media in turn calls you back to confirm and accept payment. According to Ms. Lillard, I'll have the invoice by Friday. She wanted to scan and email it to me today but I opted for it to be sent by mail.

i too used allied-vauhn, i chose to get it through the mail but could hardly read it, so i called allied and they e-mailed it to me and i was able to make better copies and no creases from when it was mailed to me the first time. since i saved it on the computer, i can copy on to a more distressed looking paper and it looks more "dated".

UPDATE!

Well...it didn't happen! Ms. Stacy Lillard at GM Media (Allied-Vaughn) called me back to say she couldn't find an Invoice for my car...that all she could tell me was the date my car was born and supply me with an Export Number--that apparently my car was exported to Canada. She then turned me on to a Vintage Vehicle Services Inc. - For GM Vehicle Documentation located in Canada. So I called the number she gave and the man she referred me to (George) told me the chrage would be $57.25 and emailed me a form to fill out and mail back to him along with a credit card number. I did so. A few days later he called me back to say it would cost me an additional $105.00 to retrieve any information out of the U.S. Archives. Total sum = $162.25. What the........

That got my temper up, and I immediately maxed my credit card out before he could chrage me (actually it was a gift card--I only use those for internet transactions and such). Anyway.....The heck with it. :( Chit like that only happens to me...but doesn't mean it will happen to you!
