Has anyone moded their Vette to shoot flames out of the tail pipes? I think that it used to be a big thing back in the days. Ive never actually seen anyone w/ this ever. Ive only seen one kit on the net. Does anyone have any info on this type of modification such as pictures or links to anyhting good?

That would be awesome at night!!! I would love to see if anyone has installed that myself...

I have been told, guys would put spark plugs in tail pipes and run wires back to them with a toggle switch. Open manual choke and hit the toggle switch. I have not seen anything on setting this up without a manual choke. The cars misfired when shooting flames because the spark was going to the plug in the tail pipe.

Flaming Exhaust?

Come on you guys can't be serious. What's next - neon lights on the undercarriage?

You bet you A$$ Im serious!!!

Thanks for the link Red, thats exactly what I needed. Thats even a better price. Ill probably do it next month and take a video clip.

Remo, I think this is a little different than neon lights. I mean...flames! I hate all that ricer nonsense, but I would definitely love flames comin' out my rear. :D

Like said before, I also think that this had it's origins a while back, whereas ricer "stuff" is not that definition.

I could see it, especially on a C3. Not the same affect with a C4 or 5.

Looking forward to seeing the video clip Macgyver!

Be aware! When you are doing things like that, it requires an extremely over-rich condition for it to work properly, i.e., shoot big flames.

Obviously, when you are running in an overly-rich condition, your engine will suffer accordingly. ;)

There's no way to pump the fuel into the rear exaust, instead of having to gas up the engine?

I suppose you could do it that way TR, with a sprayer of some sort, but I don't think I'd want raw fuel spilling out of my tailpipes. :L

That's true, but I definitely wouldn't want to run my engine rich. There has to be another way..?

yea believe it or not i heard they use propane somehow.. Probably plumb some lines into your exhaust and have a switch hooked up to a plug and the propane so it can be timed!

Theres this new show on MTV called Pimp My Ride where they take peoples sorry cars and make them into some seriously ghetto ass rides. Well apparently they did this to someones car on the last episode as I was told and they ran a line to dump gas into the exhaust, so it is done that way. They also hook up propane lines in there I ve heard. I dont want some 4 foot flame come out of the end, or even 1.5 foot. I just want the tailpipes to look like butane lighters. Nothing crazy.

It seems that having such a huge engine and no cats would suffice for this. The way they describe it is that theres plenty of unburnt fuel that the cats are supposed to get rid. Thats what they are designed for anyways so that seems resonable.

Sure it looks cool but note that the website is showing a steel body car.

Fibreglass dosen't like fire and once it catchs, the only flash will be the guy running from his car.

Give me a break.

Here is another link to a site selling a kit or some kind of instructions to make up something.

Personally I wouldn`t go for it, have you ever seen a plastic car burn, as someone has already said you would be lucky to get the keys out of the ignition before it was all over.

That being said it would be easy to rig up. I bought a big robotic oxy/acetelene pipe cutting machine for our company and it had a remote gas on/ignition set up which used an simple circuit to turn on the gas valves and an NGK spark plug to fire it.

Buy a couple of plumbed in fire extinquisher systems if you go for it.
