have something similar that I got from mid america...no mufflers but does have small like resonators near the tips...I do not find it to be loud, but cat. helps to keep sound down, think that flowmasters were actually louder, will keep my set on but plan to change to flowmasters next year

Check out youtube...if I recall, there is a clip on there of an LT1 with these with sound.

I once bought a used c4 that had straight pipes on it. It sounded like a UPS truck and made all the neighbors mad. So I put on regular mufflers.

People will hear you coming a mile away.

I think it sounds a little bit better then that. ;LOL

I've got a sound clip of mine with those but open exhaust somewhere. If you want Cajun I can try to upload it. But if your car has the catalytic converter then it will not be so loud.

:L

My neighbors have just had to accept that I have loud pipes.... if they value you as a person- they look over them.

I agree with puppyfang, I just bought a Flowmaster cat back system and it sounds great! If you don't decide to go with the straight pipe go on Summit Racing.com and check out the Flowmasters.

I had muffler elims on mine when I bought it. The sound was not overwhelming, just a little louder than other stock LT4's I've heard.

:w
:pat

I just picked up a 1989 4+3 coupe with straight pipes, no cats, no mufflers. in my opinion very loud... also has considerable exhaut popping when decelerating.

Another Idea

If you just want it to have a little more throaty sound you might try what I did. I had the resonator removed for $80.00 at a muffler shop. There is a bit more exhaust sound in the car at highway speed. But on the other hand I can leave the neighborhood without my neighbors throwing bricks at me. Mine is an automatic but if I put the car in low or second and run it up to 4000 RPM and back off it will growl and backfire. Good luck with whatever you chose.:D

I don't know....Maybe I'm being foolish... I just think the Stock Exhaust is a little too Docile for a Vette.

How loud?

My 85 has no cat and stock mufflers. I am not sure if I should get muffler eliminators(that would give me straight pipes) or if I should get a new Y pipe and dynomax ultra flo mufflers? The eliminators would save me about $200. This 85 is a budget car, everything bought on ebay or at a major discount. Or should I splerge and get B&B catback $800 or a borla setup?

Had similar ones on my 86. WAY to much resonance, with the windows closed. Found a rear y-pipe made by walker with a cross pipe welded in that elimnated 90% of resonance. Now I run freeflow mufflers (nothing inside) and the sound is AWESOME.
