Ignition Module Failure....???"

Lanny,

Back in 2002, I had Edelbrock heads on my play engine with roller tip rockers and the stock covers did work. But I think that Tim is right, and for a full rocker set up you may need a taller cover. But, heck that was then. Perhaps someone has figured out a low profile stock-styled cover nowadays that will accommodate full rockers...or the other way around, a full rockers set up that fits under a stock valve cover. :D

May I ask why 1.6 rockers will not work anymore?

Greetings Peter

Peter,
I was concerned about valve to piston clearance using the 1.6 rockers. However others have already told me that I will be fine...but I will check the clearance when I get all the parts in. I hope my 1.6 rockers work as it will save me a bunch of money.

If someone could post pictures of a front cover, from the back and side, I'll edit them to show where to notch it so you don't have to drop the oil pan to re-install. I'm in Canada right now and I don't think I have a SBC front cover off at home anyway.

I still have the front cover on, so I am unable to help at this time. Perhaps I will be able to get the cover off this weekend.

I got the cover off and the cam out. But I have an aftermarket aluminum cover as I installed a double-roller and needed extra room.

I can take some pictures this weekend.

I also took a good look at the #4 exhaust lobe and can see a spot which I think is when the valve kissed the piston. So I have decided to replace the Comp Cams with a Lunati 60102 cam. I have the Edelbrock 70cc Performer RPM heads and will be using a 0.045 thick gasket that gives me a 0.040 quench distance. DCR came out to 8.02 (I think).

Going to take a few weeks before all the parts arrive and I get everything back together.
