This is an updated post regarding my flooding problem. 1988 model year.

I've done some more trouble shooting and have narrowed the problem down, all 8 injectors are receiving power to them when the engine is off and the key is in the on position. My understanding is with the engine not running and key in the on position there shouldn't be any power reading at the injectors. It appears I have some sort of electrical problem that is providing power to the injectors all the time hence causing the car to flood.

I've tried swapping an ECM from a 1987 into the car and the problem remained the same.

Any ideas where I should go look to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, can anyone point me to some tech data on trouble shooting the fuel injection and ECM systems.

Regards,

Fred

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Fred

There is no way a computer from a '97 is going to work in your '88, although I do tend to think that is where your problem lies. However, I do not know what to tell you to solve it. :(

Ken

Thanks for pointing out a severe typo, I meant to say 1988.

C4,
If you like I can private e-mail the entire section of the Fuel Injection System in Adobe Acrobat. The zip file is 700k large. You have a problem that involves many different components. From a manifold leak to a bad O2 senor. You'll just have to check each one. The zip file also has a file that shows you how to properly check an injector with a Node, DVM and Wave Guide. Will tell you if you have a current type injector system or voltage type injector system. Will give you wave examples of a non working or poor woking injector and a properly working injector. Should keep you busy for a while. :Steer :w
