Hello everyone!:happyanim:

I started up my vette yesterday for the first time in 9 years. Woo Hoo! With just the front y pipe on it sounds a lot quieter than I thought it would, not like my neighbors race car. Any how I noticed that my tach wasn't working at any rpm. When I first got the car before taking it off the road, the tach was very high in rpm in relation to vehicle speed. I have a 3:08 rear and at 50 mph the tach showed 3800 rpm.

Any ideas as to where to look first, and how to diagnose? I did remove distributor to prime engine, maybe the connection is at fault?
Thanks to every ones input.

What year? Stock tach? All 68-74 are mechanical, direct drive. All 75-82 are HEI electrical. The usual suspects are boogered up cross shaft gear 68-74; bad tach board 75-82.

Could be something as simple as a bad connection for the HEI or a loose cable on the earlier cars.
