Inspecting a 2000 Coupe - What am I missing?

Rain, do ya think you'll miss driving the C4? One of the best features of a C4 is the cockpit and how it sort of wraps around you. Thats one of the reasons I'm not sure I want to trade mine and get that 03 spiral gray coupe I was tellin you about--- that--- and the price of the 03 ! :ugh I know that I had a blast test driving the 03, like I said...the grin is still glued to my face. It's at the dealers where I got my 94,and when I walked in, the salesman who sold me mine and knows I've been looking for a spiral gray one, tossed me the keys and said "see ya when ya get back". :gap So, it's a beautiful day, I got an 03 with 7k on the clock, and a half tank of gas to "test" her out with. Let me tell ya...that was a GREAT way to spend the afternoon........ now if I can only get them to come down in price I'll be ready to head to BG for the CAC get together next year. :v BTW.... is this new one Corals' 1st birthday present? ;LOL

yea, if I keep it that long! sweet 16, she gets a Vette - or whatever they are making that year LOL!
(im so exhausted, I forgot to address that part of your message- -the 03 spiral. hahaha)
pretty bad, i know.

Perma Grin will not fade fast on me either -

Really tempting to keep the 96 too. but its a shame to have it sit, pay the remaining note and insurance and the HUGE car tags we have down here..
when I can't drive em both at the same time..
Be cool is Susan and I could take em both out at the same time, but no where for Coral to ride!

btw, after Susan took it down to the beach, first thing she said when she returned
" I get to keep this one when you get a C6"

I KID ya not!

On a side note...I don't think I want to know how much $$$ 20", hi-perf tires cost...OK, yes, I do, but I don't...<shivers>

Not to bad on the rubber:

Yokohama AVS (whats on there now)
275/30/19 Front $301
285/30/20 Rear $273

At Tire Rack .. Of course there are the YR rated and not ZR like I have.(can't be that much difference)

Congrats Rain.

It looks awesome!
(Now go get some letters for the front license plate filler and the rear.
Silver or red would look very nice. :))

Absolutely beautiful rain, nothing like a shiny black vette (I'm a little biased) and I have the red lettering and it looks great

Ouch...that's a lot in my book. Interesting that the smaller fronts are more expensive. Must be that "supply & demand" thing. :)

But dude, that is one bada$$ looking vette. Very mean looking. I think it barely looks like a C5 for some reason. Looks way more exotic! And nice camera too! Very impressive!

EDIT: I had to come back in this post and give it up...

Welcome to the world of the C-5 like I said earlier a real head turner not too much glitter and just enough to be different. I took a friend out for a ride last sat night and he was supprised how much faster and smoother it was then his Dads C3.
Enjoy :D:D:D

well, not bad considering I just put non runflat F1s on the rear of my 96 in a 18inch size for $273 locally - they price match Tire Rack.com! YEA!

I can replace all 4 with a cheaper tire in the same size on this C5:
Dunlop SP Sport 9000
(Max Performance Summer)
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...&partnum=83ZR09000&vehicleSearch=true&index=0
Front: 275/30ZR19
Price: $238

Rear: 285/30ZR20
Price: $272

It's About time!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Rain

Your getting nuts with the vette thing, do it and don't look back. We aren't talking about putting a lien on the farm.

Check the body panels to make sure they line up and and look at where the panels run together to make sure that it wan't involved in any accident.

I'm sure it's going to be just fine, good luck with it and l hope you keep it as clean as the picture.

What happened with the Texas vette? Boy do you get around, l hope you still have your day (evening) job?

Alan

Camera is the Nikon Coolpix 5000
5 mega pixel camera
shooting at FINE quality instead of HI or Higher
Gives me a nice 300 dpi image thats about 14MB in size.
I use photoshop to knock that down to 72 dpi (except for that first image, its 150 dpi)
and then do a SAVE FOR THE WEB at high quality. That really compresses it down for faster viewing.

ok, now you know my secrets.. I must kill you now..

hahahahaha

Stop counting pennies!!

Rain

Just enjoy your vette and don't worry about the smaller details, remember you pay for what you get.

Sometimes you save a dime and it costs you a quarter.

Go first class within reason and at least you have somebody to go back to.

I pay more for a pair of dress slacks then you are spending for a tire so make sure it's the right tire for your needs.

Believe me l save more in the long run by buying a better pair of slacks then a cheaper pair just from the wear and tear.

Enjoy life to the fullest, one day you will be a national star!

Good luck again.

Hey, don't sweat it. I'm very familiar with my dad's Canon 10D (6 megapixel SLR) and Photoshop 3.01 - 8.0 :D

hey Alan,
not nickle and diming the tires. Just seeing what the eventual replacement will be.
HAHAHA!
Mentally preparing myself I guess-

The one in TX is still there best I can guess. Some guy on eBay that buys up Vettes and resells em had the high bid last I saw but it did not meet reserve.
She might have gotten frustrated and sold anyway.
I picked up this 2000 coupe in VA for about three grand cheaper too!(with mods I would have paid full price for)

good to hear from ya
Rain

Looks Awsome!!

Rain

If the vette was perfect you wouldn't have a thing to do. Enjoy it and l'm sure you did the right thing.

Happy motoring.

Breaking Balls!!!!!!!!

Rain

I'm only yanking your whatever, drive it for a couple of months and then do whatever you feel it needs.

I took mine to a Chevy dealer to change the oil and lube it and they had a deal for new customers where they gave it a 65 or so point check up and all l had to pay for was the parts and a minimum for labor.

It was so worth it, must have saved over $400 in labor and only g-d knows in diagnostic costs.

You can call your local vette club and ask them if one local dealer is better then the next and when you speak to a servive advisor make sure he gives it to a vette specialist.

Scarey looking machine.

Rain, a black C5! Congrats and welcome to the fraternity of the Black Corvette Owners! HAHAHAHAHA! Prepare to spend your weekends cleaning her!

You'll have lots of fun with that little toy, and we can't wait to see the pics!

-Patrick

Well ya gotta teach me how to clean her the right way!

Tried drying with the leaf blower(well, started on the rims so I didnt scratch em.. )
and must have been too slow.. water spot city!
Will need washing every time we drive her. (spoiled us with the 96 aqua coupe)

Snapped these once I got her home and removed the road grime:

Oh boy, that's macho looking machine. I know it must have fun drive back. Long, but fun. Nothing like the feeling you get bringing a new baby home, eh?
