Install K Harness without changing lock plate on 04 Z06?

My main question that I am trying to resolve is:

Can I disable the column lock by just installing the Harness K wiring jumper, without changing the column lock plate on an 04 Z06?

I have not been able to find a description of exactly what the factory wiring harness in kit #88952428 does. Does the harness keep the column lock actuator from working? If so, why does the lock plate need to be changed?
If the lock plate keeps the column from locking, why is there a need to change the wiring harness?

I noticed in one of the TSBs there was a mention of two kit numbers. What is the difference in kit #88952427 which seems to contain only a wiring harness, and kit #88952428 which has the Harness K wiring jumper and the different lock plate?

tghawkins,
Welcome to the CAC.

That sounds like a question for C4C5Specialist, our resident technical guru. Hopefully he'll be along in the next day or two to help you out.

Sure would like to know too. Had the 88952428 done to my 99 coupe. also, the ANS smaller lock ring.

HI there,
In the harness K that you are speaking of, you will also have the lock plate.
This lock plate must be installed to completely disable the lock from the steering wheel.
The harness is also a feedback relay, to confirm position to the BCM, that is why you are installing both parts.
