Interior Courtesy Lights Don't Go Out

My courtesy lights are giving me a headache. When you open either door on occasion the courtesy lights won't dim and go out.

Since it occurs with both doors I suspect that it is the dimmer relay (is that the right term) up above the steering wheel and underneath the dash pad.

Before I go at that does anyone have a possible easier solution?

Look under drivers side dash, just above kick-panel for courtesy light timer (probably an orange plastic box)........chances are it's bad. It can be unplugged without circumstance and courtesy light will still function with dimmer switch.

Thanks. I assumed it was this other relay up above that did this. I'll take a look tomorrow.

The timer for the 77' courtesy lights is located underneath the dash, between the tach and speedo. It's "taped" to the harness. Shaped somewhat like a small flasher. It seems yours needs replacing.

Thanks Rick. That's was my original thought but I didn't really want to go there again. I'll take a look in both areas.
