interior lights

First Hello I am a new member!!! Love my new to me 87 coupe, The problem is the interior lights, I know the dash cluster in need of repair but THINK it might have something to do with the problem I am having. If I hit a bump or close the door the dash goes blank and the interior lights go out and the trunk release buttons will not work. If i leave it alone or hit another bump they all start to work again. What can I check? All help greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard

There is a timer module which controls the hatch buttons on the doors and interior lights.( I believe the 87 still used this module) You may want to check if the connections are tight. It's located above the passenger side hush panel. A small black box with plug in connector with a circuit board usually just taped to the wiring harness. It's an easy item to check and worth a look.
