I've got puddles of rainwater in the passenger footwell! So far the carpets don't smell, but this has got to get fixed asap. Heater core is disconnected, water gets in while it's parked in the rain. The windshield cowl drains are clear - I can run a garden hose in there with the metal mesh screens removed and it drains out fine on both sides behind the front tires, after I removed lots of black goo fom the drains. The water seems to be coming in from the front, as the sides of the tranny tunnel are wet. Any ideas?

Also, I don't think it's the evaporator drain, as I've not been running the AC lately due to a potential low charge.

Hello? Anyone? I've got an ugly blue tarp over it until this problem is fixed. All of the weatherstripping around the vert top looks worn but ok.

Found it !!!

It was the hood latch drains. You have to take off 3 bolts each to remove the cable and latch to have good access. Pass side was gunked up with leaves, drivers side had leaves and a pop rivet (!) lodged in there. Tomorrow I'll dremel out those drain slots in the back of the channel into drain rectangles. Good thing I just stocked up on cut-off wheels.

I plugged up the pass side drain again with a plastic bag and ran water into the area with a garden hose. The water overflows onto the blower motor case. Within a minute the pass side carpet was getting wet. Now to dry things out with dessicant and no more ugly blue tarp. I'm going to celebrate by getting a nice cover.

Does this mean my evap drain is plugged? Seems to me that should have drained this out.

I know this is an older posting, but i have the same problem. I am getting water under the carpet from the footwell of the passenger side. Can you tell me more?

I had the same issue. It seems the C-4 drains water from the outside
fresh air vents through the heat\AC system. If you remove the panels that hide the battery and the washer resevoir on the passenger side,
you will notice 2 drain tubes. Mine were full of debris.
I removed them dug out what I could with my finger and rinsed the remainder out with a hose through the fresh air intake. Be aware
i did flood the interior again during this process. However I had the carpet out so it wasn't as much of a concern.

One more item. If you have had a significant amount of water in the floorboard, dessicant most likely won't help. The C-4 has a cotton like material under the carpets. its sucks up water like ... well .. like cotton.
The dissicant can't pull the water back through the rubber barrier on the back side of the carpet well enough.

You may have to remove the carpet and let it dry. Otherwise, mildew eats the cotton sound deadener for lunch and your interior smells less than pristine .... forever.

Be sure and wash the sound deadener with something that kills mold spores for future mishaps.
