2002 Torch Red Coupe
I would like to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Greg and I recently joined the Corvette family with a 2002 Torch Red Coupe with 13K miles. I have dreamed about owning a Vette since before I had a license and at 36 years old; I wish I had bought one years ago. This car is everything I imagined and so much more. I expected the performance; however, the comfort and refinement is simply shocking. Last year, I purchased a new Honda S2000 and found that it did not cure my Vette envy. My wife initially thought that I was crazy for wanting to trade the S2000 for a Vette; but fortunately, she was supportive. Of course, that changed once we drove a Vette. She immediately realized that the Vette is a far superior car. After a brief search, I found my Vette with all the options I wanted.

The Vette has redlined my obsessive gene! It seems that every thought is filtered through torch red. It already has 8 coats of Zaino polish and there seems to be no signs of stopping. Thank God for this Corvette Board or I do not know what I would do!

I went to Cruise night in Freehold, NJ this past Thursday night (fantastic event... last Thursday of the month June - August) and experienced my first taste of being a part of the Corvette world. There was a parking lot reserved for Corvettes and it was an honor to park among them. My wife and I had our picture taken by a random stranger as we pulled out of the lot! What a feeling. Anyway; I look forward to becoming an active member of the board and I will look to many of you for advice.

Welcome to the CAC and Corvetting.

Hi Greg,

Welcome and congrats on your beautiful coupe!!
My wife also bought an S2000 the first year they came out. It was a fun car, but the vette is a totally different experience!!

I use Zaino too. I must have 30 coats on my vert by now.
Use Zaino's "Leather in a Bottle" on your seats after cleaning them using Ivory soap. You'll love it too.

Best regards and don't forget to :w

Thanks for your advise

I have also been using the Zaino Leather in a Bottle. Its great stuff. I have been using it on my Wife's '94 Q45 (the Dog Car - Our Labradore's primary mode of transportation) and even the leather in a bottle has brought the seats back to like new condition. Even makes the car have that new leather smell!

Greg,

Congratulations! Welcome to the wonderful world of Corvette! And most importantly, welcome to the CAC! This place is a wonderful resource for Corvette owners, and I hope you feel free to explore all the forums, galleries, the tech center, history and learning centers.

That's a beautiful coupe you have there. I also had to wait until mid-thirties to get my first Corvette. I'm still in my mid-thirties, and I'm not on my second one! :L

Hi Greg,

Welcome to the CAC, congrats. Are you a pool shark?
Seems a lot of us got our first one in our 30's. (ok, ok, so it was late 30's for me :L)

Tammy

p.s. If you keep your pics to 800x600 or so, it helps reduce that scrolling effect you get when trying to read your post ;)

Not much of a shark.

Hi Tammy,

I'm a pool player; not a shark. A shark hides his skill and sneaks up for the kill. I'm more like the torch red. You'll see me coming.

I'm looking at this thread now on my 21" work monitor, and wow... looks great. I guess I need one at home now ;)
