Formally Callaway SuperNatural Grand Sport #0001
Today I received an invite for my '96 Callaway SuperNatural Grand Sport to be included in the Special Collection XX Display at Bloomington this year!

Now I just have to decide how I'm going to transport it Illinois. (Chris, your refrigerator doesn't have room for 2, does it?)

One good thing, I guess, is that I'm originally from Chicago and my sister lives about 1/2 hour from St. Charles so I can stay with her and save the hotel bill. Maybe I'll use those savings and check into using a transport service or rent a trailer and pull with my Grand Cherokee.

Invite

Great News I just hope I get my Invite soon . Looking forward to meeting all the guys again.

I got mine too

:eek Truthfully it came as a complete surprise. Thanks to Chris for putting in all the effort sending the package with information about our cars to Bloomington. :beer

I'm going to be at Bike Week in Laconia NH from June 12-19 and to get to Bloomington for Thursday morning, June 24th, I'll have to head out on Tuesday morning, June 22nd. This is going to be interesting trying to pull off all this time off and coordinating everything. But there is no way I'm going to miss this. I'll figure it out somehow.

How are you guys getting your cars there? At this point, I'm thinking that I'm going to trailer it myself. Convoy anyone? We aren't going to get to drive our cars at all... except for in and out of the exhibition...

Kruzmisl just got an invite!!!! 89-#17 heading to the ballroom. I also was suprised but thrilled. Looking forward to hangin with the group.

Another thought...

As I'm thinking through the logistics for this road trip it occurs to me that I need a place to sleep. It appears we can get rooms at this Pheasant Run Resort for $189/night and up. :( Or are they putting us up all expenses paid like royalty. :eyerole I didn't think so. Can I sleep in the ballroom with my car? Anyone else have any thoughts on accomodations?

Hotel Help

Kevin and others,
I'm leaving work and out to dinner BUT, tonight I will post 6 or 7 hotel options, prices and numbers. The sooner you book the better, like any other large event, they fill up. I'll list in a few hours. Paul

I have to run out for a bit but, there are rooms avail for less that have been set aside - I have some details on that I can provide.

Congrats everyone :m

I got an invitation today as well. What's with the 1/8 or less on the tank thing?? I guess they know some of us mix 1/2 race with 1/2 pump premium :D I also presume this means we won't be driving our cars around like at Carlisle, no high speed parades :Steer !...

See ya all there.

-Luigi

Obviously you will want to see what our fearless leader has, but in the mean time:

Country Inn and Suites..........109+...................1/4 mile.......630-587-6564
Holiday Inn Express...............102+....................1 mile........630-584-5300
Best Western.......................109+....................1 mile........630-584-4550
Courtyard by Marriott............114+....................1 mile........630-377-6370
Quality Inn...........................115+...................1 mile.........630-513-6500
Super 8...............................99+.....................3 miles.......630-377-8388

Congratulations Luigi! We will definitely need your photography skills. Yes, unfortunately the cars will have to remain parked from the start of the show until the end. Trust me....it's worth it to be included in the special collection!!

Must be for safety/insurance regs. A couple of indoor show I've done have had the same requirement.

Well, At least I will be able to sleep knowing my car is sucured :D

:cool

Basically once your car is in the ballroom, it is there until the end of the show. Many indoor shows in the Chicagoland area have the same requirement.

I will be looking forward to meeting some/all of you. I already met Chris (89x2) when I was out East a few weeks ago. I live only 15 minutes from Pheasant Run and will have a 4 day pass.

Same here, I look forward to meeting everyone as well. Callaway cars have always intrigued me and i look forward to learning a bit about your cars.

Mark, Pete, Kevin, Paul, and Luigi - Congratulations to ALL :beer

I am glad that your cars have been selected for this historic event :) :v

re: the hotel rooms, The Pheasant Run and Holliday Inn Express rates that Paul (Kruzmisl) posted are correct - you can register yourself or shoot me an e mail, with where you would like to stay, the Nights you will be staying, room prefeance (King or 2 beds), Smoking or not, or any other needs and I will pass them along - with that, a confirmation number can be assigned and you then call w/ your credit card to hold the room on your own.

There are rooms "blocked" for the Special Collection Owners at these "host hotels".

I have also asked about trailer parking, as I know some owners will be hauling the cars out with their trucks:Steer

Again, Congratulations :upthumbs

Luigi, I imagine that is a fire code thing - I attended a show last year where we had to drain to 1/8th of a tank proir to entry. I had trailered mine so it wasn't much of an issue however, some folks had to drive around for a bit to "use up" their tankfulls :eyerole

The firemarshall did show up and got flustered, when someone asked why we had to go through all this when the vapors left in the talk are more volatile than liquid gasoline...

At least we can siphon our tanks down... Many newer cars (possibly starting w/ the OBD II cars) have a check valve, making it difficult - to impossible to siphon :(

Hope this helps :beer

Kevin, My pleasure :beer By the time it was done, it was a 38 page booklet that resembled an issue of DuPont Registry more than anything else :cool and was a lot of fun putting together.

Mark, I have rented a U-Haul trailer in the past and it will haul a Corvette fine. It comes with straps that go over the front tires and I provided my own set (optional) for the rear of the car. The ramps were faily long although, I did unlad into my front yard - placing the ramps up on the curb to "flatten out" the angle :D

The U-Haul trailer comes with "surge brakes" so you do not need a seperate controller like I do with the fridge for electric brakes.

Also - *********** VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!! ******** If you place a deposit (as I did, 1 week in advance) do not count on them actually having a trailer for you when you get there :eek

My pickup time was 5pm, called at 3:30 to check, trailer was not in yet...
At 3:30 w/ still no word, I drove down to the place, no trailers to be had... Lady said to wait, as it was not 5pm yet - actually told me to go back home and wait for a call - I politely refused her offer ;)

at 5:30, still no trailer, they then called other U-Haul dealers in the area and one had 5 of them. I went there and picked it up (with a 40 dollar credit in hand, for my time wasted at the other shop)

I did a local rental - it was $50 bucks a day and worked like a champ - Hope this helps :m
