Spent Saturday swapping out the compressor, lines, expansion valve, and POA valve. Pulled a vacuum on system and my neighbor charged it with 416a ( I think, r12 replacement). It cools and compressor runs fine at low rpms. When driving and running at higher rpms, the compressor kicks on and off, on and off rapidly. Got any ideas why?

Guessing you have OE-type axial A6 comp. Some ... repeat some ... have what I think is a high pressure switch ... it turns it off if there's an over-pressure condition. I'm not an AC mechanic ... but maybe yours is overcharged with a bit too much refrigerant ... or maybe the hp switch is bad? Hope others with more experience will chime in.

Your 72 is a beautiful roadster !.. it looks like my favorite color. If it's original color ... what is color and what is paint code?

War bonnet yellow, but has been repainted at sometime in the past.

Thanks,

I got in late last night from work and didn't feel like spending much time in the shop. I did, however, determine that the low pressure switch on th POA valve is the culprit. May have a leak somewhere. I hope to work on it tonight.
