Jump start headlamp

Now my starboard side headlamp has to be helped to open...push and pull. Is this a matter of remove and replace or perhaps some adjustments would work? :mad
 
Sounds like your plastic gears may be giving up the ghost. All of the major aftermarket supply houses offer upgrades for this problem, as well as the stock replacement gears. ;)

It is relatively easy to change the gears....but a warning....do not remove the guts to the motor....just replace the gears and slap it back together. There are spring loaded parts in there that once removed do not like to go back in. Cost me 100.00 for gears for both and 280 to replace a motor I could not get back together.
Now if cash is not a problem the opt for the upgrade kit from Mid America for 500.00 and replace both motors and housings to the newer style. Which by the way has upgraded metal gears the last considerably longer then the nylon ones.
 
It should also be noted that people are taking advantage of the new lightweight headlamps; it helps ease the pressure on the motor and gears each time you open or close them. ;)
