1986 Coupe Silver Beige/Medium Brown Metallic
Just bought a '86 C4............Pictures NOW!

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 1986 C4 with 5500 original miles on it. Its 2 tone metallic silver beige on top and metallic medium brown for the bottom half. My father bought the car new in '86 and has been a garage queen ever since with those miles and prefect condition. I'd like suggestions on where to start like wheels, tires.......I'd like 17's on it "not ZR1 wheels too many people already have them", exhaust what mufflers sound throaty any other suggections to bring this "bone" stock C4 up to date? I've already taken the Eckler ground effects and front fiberglass spoiler off. I plan on keeping every thing I take off of it for when I sell it down the road if I ever sell it. Also, like most I'm on a budget, not a bad one but still there is a limit. I'm just a "poor" professional Firefighter-Paramedic "public servant" so income is low. I'd like to spend no more than $2500 on tires and wheels, less is even better.

Welcome to the CAC. I love that color combination. Sounds like you have a real nice car.

Wow. 5500 miles! Good that you know who owned it though...
In 1988 17 inch wheels became available with the Z51/Z52 handling package (like mine) and many have replaced them with aftermarket rims. I too think 17 inch looks more racey on a C4. I have seen them here for reasonable prices in the parts forum and on ebay occasionally.

I'll post some pictures as soon as I can get the digital camera back from the wife. :eyerole

Sounds great. And welcome.

watch out for TBV (theblackvette). Dont ever listen to him and if you do bring your boots casue the $hit's gonna get deep.. LOL Jk

Check out www.tirerack.com for some deals on the tires. I would suggest the Firestone SZ50's but they've been discontinued!

I think you could get some 17x9.5 oem wheels off some people who sell those wheels to go with other wheels. Check out our classified section here.

If you want a relatively cheap exhaust system that offers a nice growl; go with Flowmaster. I got two mufflers and the rear y-pipe for $350.

The eliminators are the cheapest option but they may be too loud for some folks.

Welcome. You're going to find a great bunch of people here willing to help with any question or problem. Sounds like a great car. Can't wait to see the pics.

Welcome!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the CAC!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on your corvette purchase. Great choice you made there!!!!! Hope you can post some pictures soon

Don't pay attention to 1987Silvervette. He is my rodeo clown. I ride bulls as a hobby and he protects me when I get bucked off the bull. After a rough evening in the barrel he gets a little wacked up! :L

Here is a photo of us. Check him out in the barrel!!!!!!!!! Hard at work!!!!!!!

What would we do without our rodeo clowns??????????????

Now you can understand why he made the bull reference!!!!!! :L

Personally I'd sell it to a collector and buy a higher mileage car to mod with the extra bank you make...

nice car, I too have the '86 silverbiege/med. brown combo. of course mine has about 25x the miles urs does, and it's been through more **** that I thought they could handle(I'm finding out how abused this car has been as I work on it):L. I can't imagine u have to do much work on the car being such a low mileage car. good luck, theres tons of knowledge at your disposal should you need it. they've helped me out a few times

I might be interested in selling it to a collector or anyone that might be interested.

Pictures as requested!

Now she has 6100 miles. :Steer
