I just got back my bare aluminum overflow tank and bare stainless steel windshield door operator.

The Polisher told me to apply some wax to them to prevent yellowing and oxidation. What would you apply to these parts to keep them shinier longer?

Thanks, Dave

Whatever wax your using right now... if it is just a wax and not a cleaner/wax type product as you will want to put a few layers on.

Sure, you can wax them if you want to, but if those were my pieces I would simply polish them with a quality aluminum polish as needed in order to maintain the luster.

I totally agree with ruby. Wax has the tendancy to dull and/or discolor aluminum over time. It's more difficult to keep it polished, but it will look good for longer. Unless your going to Zoops it. I've never used it before but from what I hear, it'll prevent you from having to polish as often.

Mothers has a good aluminum polish.

Zoop Seal for protecting polished aluminum!

I haven't used it yet, but from everything I've heard or read, there is a product called ZOOP SEAL that is applied to polished aluminum to keep it fresh and shiny for up to three years. Here is an example from Watson Streetworks:
Zoop Seal Aluminum Protector

You've got all your metal looking great, but how do you keep it that way? ZOOP SEAL!
  • Protects aluminum from oxidation, also for stainless or chrome parts - Eliminates the need for repolishing.
  • Covers approximately 60 square feet. Enough for an engine or 4 wheels.
  • Typically lasts 3+ years if not in an abrasive environment.
  • Use on your motorcycle, car, truck, boat, etc.
  • Includes cleaner, activator, spray bottle, applicator cloths, and finish sealer.

I'm gonna try it eventually; my valve covers deserve better treatment. ;)

BINGO...on the ZoopSeal. Thats exactly what im looking for. Thanks much. Dave
