The print out shows 313 hp and 330 ft-lbs or torque. I will be installing headers and a vararam on Thursday and getting a LS-1 edit on Friday. My goal is to get 400 hp at the rear wheels. Everything is stock otherwise (except for the Corsa Indy exhaust). I estimate that I should pull 370-375 after the work. What do I need to do next?:confused

That is pretty good I think. February's issure of corvette fever dyno's a 99 C5 and it only pulled 237 rwhp. I thought that was pretty pathetic, it must be one sick vette. They installed an intake on it and it boosted hp to about 254. I wonder what the deal is?

Don't know. I guess that a 313 is good then. I had it pulled at Fast Tech and he was pretty pleased with the hp and torque. He said that the rear hp reading is not the same as the hp reading at the "crank". That there was a loss of (I think) 15%-18% at the wheels. If you have a 237 at the rear wheels....that would be around 280-290 at the crank.....Man! That doesn't sound right. (Just called Sean Freese @ Fast Tech. He said that was the right percentage). That means I'm pulling 370 at the crank?

There's an interesting discussion about HP in this thread. It is in the Z06 forum but has some interesting observations about hp in general- crank vs rear wheel readings.

RocDoc,

That does seem a lot low... Is yours auto or manual? How many miles do you have on her so far? The headers and tune should make a big difference... he LS1/6 responds well to opening up breathing. You may also want to toy with doing a camshaft upgrade if you are looking for 400 at the rear wheel. You should be able to hit 400 with stock heads.

Let us know. Dave

RocDoc,
Where is FastTech and was it reasonable??
I'd like to run both of mine across the dyno.

I would be very interested to know what you gain with the mods you complete.

Sean @ Fast Tech was happy with the hp. He was impressed with the Torque reading of 330.45 ft-lbs. I just turned 4900 miles on her on the way back home today. She is bone stock (including the runflats)other than the Corsa Indy Exhaust.

Fast Tech is located @ 2306 South Peachtree Road in Balch Springs, Tx 75180.
Phone # is 972-288-9500. The guy that did my vette is the Managing Partner. His name is Sean Freese. I met one of the other partners by the name of Henry Able (another nice guy). Check out the December issue of Corvette Fever on page 46. There is a story about Fast Tech on a mission to build the fasted naturally aspirated 427 in the world.
Got a chance to see the ZO6 the magazine was writing about.... SWEET!
The pull cost me $45 (total). Can't beat that! As soon as I get the headers and Vararam system installed...Gonna get Sean to do the LS1 edit and re dyno. He's pretty competitive on the edit also.

Thanks RocDoc.....thats very reasonable......worth the $45 just to know what she's putting out. I would really be interested on my old '68. Like to see how close to 300 hp she really is.
I do recall seeing the article in CF, didn't click in the old brain though.....

Going to be difficult to get to 400 RWHP with those mods. Even if your car is an '01-'04 Z06 you will be hard pressed to see 400RWHP at the rear wheels without going into the engine.

I would agree with this. From what I have read, it would be a stretch to get that much from intake and exhaust. Also, don't let improvement in peak horsepower come at the expense of low end torque.

Thanks for your input guys. I realize that I'll need to delve into the motor, but I want to wait until I get her out of warranty. Right now I just want to get the headers and Vararam on...get the LS-1 edit, put her back on the dyno and see what she pulls. By the way, I bought all of my stuff from Don Davis @ yourcorvette.com....his prices are really good. Between Don's advise and supplying me with the go fast goodies and Sean's mechanical help @ Fast Tech.....I figure to pull 360-370 by the end of next week.....I'll let you guys know.......(God, I hope I'm right)

I was looking at a past issue of Corvette Fever tonight....The article stated that a dyno pull of 290-310 hp rwhp was about average.....Looking forward to tomorrow! I'm having the headers and Vararam intake and new air bridge installed that Don Davis of yourcorvette.com set me up with. Y'all (remember, I'm from Texas) should check out his website for prices....very reasonable. Friday, I'll be heading to Mequite and visiting Fastech to get a couple of dyno pulls and the LS1 edit. I'll do a dyno as soon as I arrrive to establish what gains the headers and new intake gave me....Then I'll do one more after the LS1 edit. I would be really happy with a 360-370 rwhp. I'll post you guys on Friday.
