This is the heart of the matter - the fuse block and the bulkhead connector (C100).

"Are you mocking me?"

I mocked it up today in preparation for the next step - How am I going to lay this out? How will I arrange the gauges?

carrier03.JPG

There will be room available in the space left vacant by the removal of the driver information panel for probably four gauges. The speedometer and tachometer are both five-inch gauges, which is approximately the size of the factory openings, only square instead of round.

carrier01.JPG

There will also be room for the remaining gauges, and probably then some, arranged in the bezel around the speedo/tach, along with turn signal/high beam indicators, and stuff like the "check engine light." The other stuff in the driver info panel, like the "Hatch Ajar" indicator light, is a little unnecessary anyway (at least for me).

carrier02.JPG

Eight gauges altogether: two 5-inch and six 2 1/16-inchers.
  1. Speedometer: 5"
  2. Tachometer: 5"
  3. Oil Pressure (mechanical)
  4. Oil Temperature (mechanical)
  5. Coolant Temperature (mechanical)
  6. Voltmeter
  7. Fuel Level
  8. Fuel Pressure (electrical)

Thanks for the thought Ernie, but I just replaced the heater core last year. I appreciate the tips; you never know what a second pair of eyes will see. :upthumbs

I say fab up your own bezel for the gauges and get creative

That's currently where I stand Jeff; ...gotta start laying out different ideas; if anybody has any, my eyes and ears are open. ;)

A real close look (the feed line enters at the bottom, the bleed line exits at the top):

A shot of the Lakewood safety bellhousing:

Mechanically we're gettin' close, but electrically I'm still a long way from completion. :eyerole

Changed my mind once again -- No mo' a/c!

I never use it anyway, the car won't be going for long drives anymore either, plus eliminating it from the harness will ease the rewiring project by lessening by one, another accessory. ;)

AC system

Hi Ken, would you be interested in selling me your AC system (or just some parts of it)?

Bill, Felix at The Fiberglass Body expressed interest in it just today as a matter-of-fact. If he doesn't take it, or at least make me a fair offer, I'll be sure to let you know. ;)

Just about everything in the a/c system including the compressor was new (Within the last two years that is - and a full year of that was sitting in garages! :L)

_ken :w

By the way, the side exhaust is still up for sale. ;)

I'm gonna save the heater/defrost function; I may not need the heat, but I sure do need the defrost here at the beach - the windows fog up very easily.

It'll be setup the same as an a/c delete vehicle, which supposedly was available. However, as far as I can determine, none were ever built without air conditioning. There is even a part number for the "suitcase", designed without the evaporator, but of course it isn't available or doesn't exist. ;)

The blower motor/evaporator module box is being modified to accomodate the airflow from the blower to the normal inlet of the vehicle. The box was already modified but we suffered from a little communication breakdown and it wasn't correct. He's redoing it now. (It should have been completed this morning.) ;)

Thanks for the compliments. The pictures are all grouped together for easier viewing on my personal web site in case you're interested. :D

(Although it appears as if I am talking to myself here again, someone must have deleted their posts in this thread; obviously I was answering somebody's questions.) :Silly

The blower duct work ain't done yet, but I did receive this today:
Painlessharness01.JPG

...so it looks like Monday I'll either be dropping the engine back in or working on the wiring. At any rate, things are starting to go back together now. :D
