Bill, what is your offer for the a/c? Felix bought my sidepipes instead, so I guess it's open to bidding. ;)

Geez Tom, don't you read either? I stated that I have both the Service Manual and the Electrical Supplement! :L Thanks anyway.

I don't think the missing wires are going to pose a problem, I'd just like to get it straight in my mind what the purpose for them was. It seems weird that their would not be a schematic for the harnesses: the engine harness, the interior/dash harness and the body harness. It gets especially weird where the harness of one enters/exits the right side of the firewall (#237?) and is tied together with the harness emanating from the left side, which I believe it is #106. I get frustrated then I get ****ed off! But I guess that's better than getting ****ed on. :LThe wiring though... Oh, the horror! :L

I havent read all 88 pages of this thread yet (forgive me if somebody's mentioned this around page 66) but have you given Painless Wiring a call? I know they've got comeplete wiring harnesses for some pretty complex setups, they _might_ have a C4 harness. Then you could hack out EVERYTHING and make it right -- as it is, the next owner (or the one after that) will think YOU were the idjit with the dykes. ;)

Edit: D'oh! Just saw the last page. NEVERMIND! :D

Ken. you are a patient, patient man:D Awesome project! Man, I don't have the patience to wire a car stereo :D;LOL

Jay

Ken I will send you an email tomorrow afternoon.

Are you going to let the AC bracket go as well?

Hmmm... I just happen to have a brand-new (well almost ;)) spare. :L

Thanks Chris, for having a good eye!

No worries now mate! ;)

The last few days here have been too hectic here for me to check in. You are making great progress.

There is no better feeling in the world than knowing that a job has been done right. You should be proud of this project.

Let’s convince Vig to get a digital camera and document his restoration project like you have.

I am sure that many other members are, like me, living vicariously through your adventure into the engine room.

Thanks for sharing with us and keep up the good work.

The latest addition to this ongoing project...

...Is a pair of 3A Racing seats. :gap

newseats_01.JPG

newseats_02.JPG

Now, do I sell my sport seats, or turn 'em into office chairs? A quick Internet search turned up this:
C-4 seats needing cushions and covers were selling for up to $300. Vinyl recovered seats for up to $500. This is without seat tracks. Properly working power seat tracks are worth almost as much as the seats so most of them are sold without tracks or with manual tracks. I bought a pair of excellent condition grey leather (the color I wanted) seats on eBay for $495. I feel I got a bargain compared to some of the seats sold on eBay. It was from a Corvette dismantler who had sold quite a few sets on eBay. A very reasonable $40 for shipping the 2 large boxes from Pa. He included a pair of manual seat tracks.

And this:
95 Black Sport Seats Complete w/ Frames, Nice Condition
but nor perfect - $850.00

Mine were redone in leather just last year. The passenger seat needs a harness because I smoked that one, and both seat need the little plastic bezels that surround the controls, but that's nothing. The driver's seat is all-power while the passenger seat is manually controlled. Everything is included.

_ken :w

Ken, are those leather racing seats? If you don't mind me asking, how much did those set you back?

Jay

To be honest with you Jay, I haven't even looked that close yet. I just got 'em and pulled one out of the box to shoot it. I got them through the same guy I bought the TEC3 system through; he had a deal if you purchased four of 'em, so he bought two for his Porsche and I bought two for my Vette. :D

I'll check tomorrow. ;)

Re: Talk to me Chris!

Ken,

Man, you miss a week, you miss a LOT if you are not following this thread everyday.

This car just gets more awesome everytime I look at this thread.

Looks like the injectors are headed this way!

I am getting 1/2 the feedback telling me they are too large for my motor, and 1/2 the feedback saying they aren't????

So, thanks to the miniram technology I can have them installed in no time at all, and be ready for a trip around the block.

As soon as I know, I will know :L

I will give you a call then so we can talk about it.

:cool

What size injectors? I am running 30# on my miniram with no trouble.. PROM will need reprogramming though

Jeff, we're liable to be talking about that in the very near future. The chip I have from TPiS still has free reburns that I did not take advantage of. ;)

The injectors I sent to Chris are 36#-er's. :upthumbs

As I was reassembling the transmission/torque arm/driveshaft yesterday I happened to notice something that up to now had escaped my attention; the fact that the new u-joints my dear friend Richie installed last year have Zerk fittings! I specifically requested new severe-duty u-joints with no fittings because of the extra horsepower I hope to develop, and coupled with that, the fact that I will be running slicks simply compounds (excuse the pun) the matter! The more I work on this thing, the more I begin to dislike having anyone else work on it; you just can't trust anybody nowadays! :eyerole

New, severe-duty, race-bred u-joints are going in tomorrow. ;)

36#-er's

:eek :eek :eek

That is a lot of injector

The "Wizard" for my TEC3 tells me that I need at least 40# injectors for my setup Jeff. I've installed 45#-ers, we'll simply adjust the "on" time to dial it in. ;)

Outside, the looks remain unchanged...

Inside and underneath though, the song does not remain the same. ;)

Today we did this:
dsloop_02.JPG

Nothing goes easy for me; I had to modify the arrangement of the loop because for some reason my driveshaft was closer to the bolts and nuts on the inside of the torque arm than the driveshaft of Jeff's.
dsloop_03.JPG

Initially I had it on the inside of both sides of the arm, this way the top is still inside but the bottom is on the outside of the arm to clear the driveshaft.

This is what I want to hear! Soon baby, soon! :J

Pictures of stuff from the old engine...

This is about the way Will found it when he removed the oil pan. I guess I was kinda lucky, eh?
L98teardown_01.JPG

Lucky here too; it wouldn't have been long before I blew a head gasket.
L98teardown_03.JPG

I showed a picture of this when the engine came out, while it was still attached to the crankshaft. I guess it basically just fell apart when he took it off.
L98teardown_07.JPG

A picture of the modified a/c bracket:
L98teardown_06.JPG

More pictures tomorrow of the new brackets for the DFU installation. Rick's working on the surge tank tonight.

Also talked to someone today who worked with Will when they were both with Parnelli Jones. He, in turn, has a wife that is an electrical wiz, and he's going to talk to her about helping me wire the car the right way. I mean, he's talking aircraft connectors (not flight-ready - too expensive ;)) for the firewall; neat installation. The cool thing is that he thinks his wife would love doing it. Oh boy, oh boy! :J

Now, if I could just get that duct work and the dash work done... :eyerole

_ken :w

Oh, and by the way, I couldn't really do any mechanical work on it today, so I got out the Meguiar's cleaner (Step 1) and cleaned the car; it needed it. Tomorrow, I polish and wax it.

I hade to bend mine outward to fit the Torque tube..
