Key Fob Operation of Windows

Hi All, I am looking for help to locate an accessory that I have seen on the WWW, but cannot find again. Better still there may be alternatives available.

What I am looking for is an electronic module, the one referred to apparently plugs into the C5 harness in a socket below the steering wheel, it allows the side windows to be operated from the key fob.

This action is very useful on a convertible when raising the top and securely locking the vehicle. Also in UK size garages there is precious little space to enter or leave the vehicle when it is in the garage, the windows may have to be lowered before access or egress is possible.

Thanks in anticipation of any help, best regards

HI there,
Top Down Tech, is the manufacturers of the module you seek.
I know of 3 whom have them, and they perform much more than the windows.
They will also record top speeds driven, and a few other points of interest.
If you wish, you can contact EHS on the www.c5forum.com
He is one of my customers, and has this module.
I am sure he will be more than happy to refer you to the appropriate vendor.
All the best, c4c5:hb

I ordered and received the Window Valet module in just over four days, including a weekend, which is almost as quick as an item shipped from within the UK.

A quick ‘touch check’ to determine the orientation of the exposed socket below the steering column. Positioning and snapping in the module took all of a couple of seconds.

I had previously downloaded the kit instructions from Top Down Tech’s website so programming was exceptionally easy. My main priority was to get the side windows working by remote control and quote as an example the steps to achieve this are:

Hold down the DIC RESET and press the drivers door UNLOCK button, then press the following buttons in sequence, 4 1 2 # # # #, the last four digits being those of the last four digits of the module serial number. This serial number is conveniently visible on the instruction sheet and the horn gives a warning toot that the windows are about to raise during the setup. So nine presses, accompanied by chimes or instrument dial reactions to confirm acceptance, get you to a stage where three clicks of the key fob UNLOCK will lower the windows and three clicks on the LOCK will raise the windows.

The unit can also display the highest speed reached, configure and actuate accessory power, configure door unlocking (which can be actuated by the handbrake and/or selecting park) and reset all settings to factory default. There is also a 'tongue in cheek' mode, which could be fun/useful.

In my opinion it is very good value and a must for those with restricted garage space. Also after driving top down those wishing to leave a convertible, as secure as possible, by raising the top and side windows do not have to dive into the car again to retrieve the ignition key.

Best regards,

Stan The Man

The power windows already provide the "one touch" down on both sides. I'm looking for a mod, to have "one touch" up on the driver window as well.
The window valet do not provide this mod.
I heard about the Window Commander by C5solutions.
Could someone tell me where I could find it.

Thanks in anticipation of any help, best regards.

Hi PIPO

I have been unable to access ‘c5solutions.com’ pages, this address was shown in several web search results. My web search also revealed one statement of possible interest, ‘the now discontinued Window Commander by C5solutions’, perhaps someone here can confirm the trading status of this company and /or this product?

Best regards

hi there,
I found an email adress ''C5solutions@att.net '' but the answer was delivery failure.
It seems the gentleman that put out the Window Commander is the same person that does the C5 Column Lock Bypass...
Any idea.
Are there people interested in that kind of mod of the windows.
Best regards.

Just so everyone is on the same page here.

We are talking about two seperate devices. The Window Valet does the remote windows thing with the remote and adds several other features, such as various modes of unlocking the doors, RAP (retained accessory power) modes, High Speed Recall, etc. Also if the windows detect an obstruction in the up mode via the remote, the window will reverse itself to prevent damage.

The installation time for the Window Valet is around 5 seconds!

The Window Commander provides the remote window operation with the remote and also gives you "auto up" on the windows from the door switches. It does not offer any safety feature for the auto up mode so if something is in the way of the window, it won't reverse itself. The instructions point this out. It does not include any of the other features that the Window Valet has.

The installation for the Window Commander requires removing the door panels and plugging in some modules, so it is time consuming and can be intimidating to some not wanting to remove the door panels.

Presently the Window Valet is readily available through several vendors for $149 retail.

The Window Commander is not so easy to find and may have been discontinued altogether. It retails for $225.

Hi there
You pointed it out.
It's exactly what I'm looking for.

To me, I don't care if the window commander isn't able to detect an obstruction because in France this is not a problem for 2 doors cars and because this option is particulary important if you don't see the window when you close it (for exemple the rear windows with children).

Removing the door panels seems to be difficult but I think it is more a question of patience with a good ''how to proceed'' than difficult.

hi there,
I'm still pressing 5 seconds the button of the power window to close the window.
Is there any body who could tell me what kind of relay I could change in the door to press once the button to close the window
Thanks.

Hi every body
I wish you all the best for this new year and of course a lot of fun with your favorite sports car.

I went on the adress you mentionned there are great modifications for C4 but only general specifiations for C5 without prices. I guess the callaway mod aren't very cheep.

Thanks for the information, I will investigate this way.
Best regards
PIPO

PIPO:

I've been through this with both units. I recommend the Window Valet from Top Down Tech. It does everything and more that the Window Commander from c5solutions did, and you don't need to take the doors apart. It literally installs in 5 seconds.

Window Commander has been discontinued, because there have been some electrical issues with the other control modules in the car.

Unless you want to find one used or old stock, the Window Valet is currently your only choice. With it, besides the windows, you also control other functions, like retained accessory power and door lock/unlock. It's much more useful and straight forward.

Hi
Thanks for you comment.
I know that the window valet is a great tool but the only one function I'm interested in is the one touch up and it isn't provided by the window valet.
What would be great is that Window valet add the one touch up fonction to the module...
