There is a sending unit or sensor located between and slightly above the #1 and #3 sparkplugs on the L-98 engine. Can someone tell me what this sensor is for? I need to replace the plug which goes on it and to get a new pigtail, I need to know what the unit is to order a replacement plug. I'm not getting any trouble codes when it's unplugged but I'd sort of like to get it back together without juryrigging a connector.

Also, my fan is coming on at 225 degrees (on the dash guage) and going off at about 210 degrees. Is this normal? If not, if anyone would care to offer suggestions to what the problem might be, I'm all ears.

The car does not appear to be overheating but it's not really hot down here yet and if I have a problem, I'd like to correct it before summer arrives.

Thanks.

That's the sensor for the secondary fan, if your year is like mine. It's a coolant temp sensor, and an identical one should be on the passenger side between cyls 6 and 8.

Email or PM Mad-Mic. He just had to replace the same sensor and pigtail.

Thanks a bunch. I've found the part (pigtail) that I need and it'll be a snap to replace it.

Thanks.

When I first got my car my fan would come on at 225 and shut off at about 210 just like yours. I had a bypass done that kicks the fan on at 185 and it now keeps the car alot cooler. Makes for a better running engine.

roxi,
Where did you get the bypass done, and how much did it cost, if you don't mind me asking?

Please add my name to the list.

thanks.
