Can any one tell me where I can aquire Acrylic Lacquer for my 66?. Sunfire Yellow???

This maybe off the subject but I wouldn't recommend using A/L. The newer paints with catalysts hold up better. I'm not an autho rity on the subject but both my cars have A/L paint jobs that I put on them ( late 70's for the '69 and 1990 for the '69) -water spotting, discoloration bubbles etc). It looks good when your done but unless it's a trailed show car, I wouldn't use it. My .02:w

You can go to Bolingbrook Auto Supply at the corner of Schmidt & Lily Cache or my favorite: Arnie's In Joliet.

Yes, the bc/cc will outlast the lacquer, but for judging, it is the only way to go. And they are far superior to the lacquers that were available 10-15 years ago.

At a paint seminar given last year by Tom Ames at the National NCRS meet there was considerable discussion on this topic. His points were:
1. The current lacquers are not nearly as good as they were in the past. They cannot be made with the chemicals used in the past due to current EPA constraints.

2. A good painter can make the base/clear look and appear to be lacquers. He had panels done using different tecniques and one panel done clear/base looked exactly like a simular one done in lacquer.

I have painted car with both. I can tell you that to get the best out of A/L you it takes 2 or 3 times the work to get the true advanage out of it. In most case, expect for Show Cars, the A/E looks just as good, easier to apply, less time to complete and will cost you less to get done. If you get the paint and clear coat on right I don't think you could tell them apart.

THAT's My $.02 worth
