How are things going fill us in. what do you have left before you get to fire the motor up
Larry,

- Gas line linkage from tank-to-pump-to-rear-line; and from front-line-through-regulator-to-carb.
- carb-to-intake gasket
- battery cables
- battery
- rad hoses
- dual electric fan wiring
- heater hoses
- coolant
- accelerator linkage
- install my MSD ignition module
- coil
- drop in my MSD billet distributor
- hook up tach cable
- alternator
- fan belts
- hook up engine harness (alternator, solenoid, etc.)
- oil pressure line from block to gauge
- final fit on headers and side tubes

I've probably missed one or two items, but I'm getting close. We're firing before the doors or re-chromed bumpers go back on.

I confess to nearing the burn-out stage. We've been wrestling with a number of difficult issues due to the extreme modifications, and now that they're pretty much solved, I'm emotionally tired.

Getting ready to print up my Neighbourhood Flyer for distribution in a week or so.......

Dear Friends and Neighbours

Saturday at 11:00am will be a memorable occasion here-abouts. Please be sure to bring your family china and dinnerware down from the high cupboards, tranquilize the dog and round up all the young children. Taping your windows is highly recommended.

As you know, we are nearing the end of our journey on the Rebuild of a Legend. We'll be firing the beast for an hour or so, on Saturday, to complete the steps necessary to prepare 67HEAVEN for the road, and apology for the noise and commotion that is certain to prevail.

As a token of appreciation for your indulgence, please accept this invitation to the "Coming Out" Party later this summer.....details to be announced soon.

Ear plugs and beer will be available on site. :D

As you know your in the hardest stage of the project and that is making all the peices of the puzzle come together as a working unit. And yes I do understand burn out (but mine is not burn out, it rushing through things only to have to come back to redo them at twice the labor as doing correct the first time )

Good Luck

Bob,

You are just getting to the best part......the only reason that you feel drained is that you are being very thoughtful and thorough in your approach to the issues leading to the completion of the project. This is all to your credit.

We all feel the weight of the long term projects at one time or another. The results will make it all very worthwhile and the resultant pride will wipe out any negatives you have ever though of over the project. You are right around the proverbial corner ......keep going.

You car is very cool:D

And I am waiting for a ride!

I stopped at 67's site tonight. I got tired just reading about what he did. Looks like a sweet ride. From what I have read I am assuming you are the original owner? Do you still have the L71 for it?

:beer

Len,

That's interesting news. I assume they're the same length.....4" I think for the lowers. Got a part number?
I called ARP direct...800-826-3045. I described my situation and they recomended:
Short Head bolt 5AP2.00-5L 7/16 12pt 2inch coarse thread.

The bolts came in a bag marked 5AP2000-5L though.
The lower bolts are the short 2 inch ones. Order the washers too, I think they're shorter than the GMPP washers. Every 1/8th counts.

BTW, I worked from the inside bolts out when I replace the lower bolts. Remove one inner & replace then the next inner & replace. Removing one at a time and re-torquing in 3 steps. 25, 45 & finally 65 ftlb. :w

Thanks Len. Yes, the 2" ones. Can you tell I'm tired? :D

Ordered them today. Everyone sitting down? Three to four freakin' weeks. Each bolt $CA3.99 (x 8) and each special washer $CA2.99 (x 8). :mad The bloody border!!!!!

Helps to explain some of the frustrations I've been dealing with, no? :eyerole

That is highway robbery, wouldn't it be easier to drive to Summit (near Akron Ohio) and pick them up yourself. It might be cheaper to buy the complete set. Kind of like buying tools at sears, if you spend a few dollers more you can get a complete set of wrenches instead of just the 9/16 you lost.
good luck.

One of the problems with Ontario is that it's hundreds of miles from everywhere. It's a 14-hour return trip to Akron from my place. :crazy

I'll concentrate on other things while waiting for the bolts.

I keep saying that one of these days I will get a map of Canada to see where you guys are located, I've always wanted to go fishing for Northern Pike in Canada.

Craig,

Here's a great Ontario fishing site.

http://www.finandfeather.com/location.htm

The freaky thing is that it's almost 17 hours to the west, by car, from my location in South-Central Ontario. The Eastern-most location in Ontario is another 6 hours from me. :crazy That doesn't count heading north beyond Lake Superior.

This is one big province.

P.S. Why settle for Pike when you can have Muskie????????
Scot_Muskie_2001.jpg

....and yes, I'm hijacking my own thread. :D

Bob

I guess the bigger the province the bigger the fish ;LOL. I always tell my wife that if I ever get to choose the destination of a vacation it will be either a Phaesant hunt or a Fly in fishing trip.
the only fishing I do lately is in my pond and it is catch and release. I do have some big Catfish, but not as big as that musky. It is quite relaxing to go out in the evening and play with my fish :L

You are at that stage in your project where you can almost smell the fumes, soon it will be all worth it.

After a 3-4 week wait, I hope the bolts work out for you Bob.

Years ago my buddies and I made fishing trips up to Lake Nippesing(sp). Stayed at a place called the West Arm Lodge. Great times, caught many pike, muskie, bass and walleye. 2 of the musky went under the boat! :eyerole We got tired of fishing with minnows, so we started using small perch and sunfish for bait. That's when we got the biggen's.

Would love to go back some day.
