Hi everyone. I just stumbled across this forum and see the same questions about the Crossfire setup that prompted me to write a tech series on the system a couple of years a go when I was heavy into it. I don't do much Crossfire stuff any more, and I don't have enough free time to participate in forums, but I hope the series will be a helpful additional resource for this forum.

I also have a 'sticky' thread on another Corvette forum that details the design and build of completely custom setups using highly modified Crossfire TBs on Offy Crossram and in-line dual quad manifolds, as well as complete step-by-step porting instructions for the crossfire manifold.

Custom setups using Crossfire TBs -and- step by step crossfire porting

When it comes to CrossXXX manifolds, it's hard to beat the proven performance and ultimate 'cool factor' of an Offy CrossRAM. Follow the link to see the entire process from concept to finished product.

A lot of people don't know that Crossfire TBs are actually from a 4 cylinder engine . . the only TBs GM had available at the time. The bad part is that they have dismal flow out of the box . . and troublesome dual IACs. The tiny TBs are THE restriction on Crossfire, not the manifold. The good part is that with no adjacent throat, the little 4 banger TBs can be bored out and even sleeved to rediculous levels not obtainable even with a BB two barrel TB. Crossfire TBs, because they can be properly balanced, will run smoothly and with crisp stumble free off-idle and tip-in behavior in a variety of configurations. Go crazy. That's what hot-rodding is all about.

No need to be restricted to the stock manifold (which is actually a very good street performance manifold with an aggressive port job), or unproven aftermarket replacments. At the end of the above linked thread is a step by step HOW-TO for porting a stock Crossfire manifold. Only the mods specific to the Crossfire are detailed. Port matching is the same for any manifold and has doubtless been covered a thousand times, so I did not add to that pile.

I hope this info is useful and perhaps will inspire some more creative projects.
