hi everyone, my low oil light comes on but my oil level is to the line full it is a 93 coupe auto. 40,000mi has anyone had this problem? kraz

What's the needle show? If it's low pressure there too, put in a quart of some heavyweight stuff, and see if it rises at all. If so, could be a bad pump.

Faulty oil level switch or plug/ wiring at sender unit in pan would be first to check

OK you have a 1993 car with 40k on the clock. That makes this car 17 years old. That comes out to about 2350 miles a year that it has been driven or put another way it is only averaging less than 200 miles a month. What does all this mean. Well it means that the car is rarely driven and when it was it was on short trips most of the time. The problem is that the engine does not see enough extended normal temperature running time. So when it is shut down the sensors and all the other parts are coated with lubricate that has not had the normal moisture heated out of it. This has caused sludge or glaze to form around the sensors etc.
If it were my car I would put fresh oil in it and a full tank of fuel and go out and drive it non stop through that tank and then fill up again and drive back home. I think if you do this after about 100 miles or so you will see the engine start to run and idle better. What's the worst thing that can happen if you do this. Let's see you have some quality time in your car and you see some interesting things while driving and you come home with a smile on your face from the joy of getting away for awhile.

Worst thing you can do is let it sit and then only go for short trips. Like John said, when you drive it go some distance to get heat in the engine for an extended lenth of time to clear gunk. Having a very low mileage car is very nice but to the extent that it starts to hurt the car is not good. Drive her some and enjoy it. It is a CORVETTE designed and built to be driven. If you want a show piece put it in your living room and tell people that it is low mileage but does not run due to sitting.
