Well with the NEW windsheild in.. The glass guy's having a FIT getting the lower chrome to sit in properly..it's not QUITE flush. It looks ok.. but under CLOSE inspection.. it's not right.
Any cool tricks here? It's ONLY on the drivers side starting at window line center with a 1/8 inch lift carrying over to the join to the upper pillar ( about 1/4 inch pull back from it's original chrome stain line).

two questions.

1) Could somebody take a pix of how the chrome clicks in with a seperate pix of the clip.
( Assuming you have the window out )

2) Do the clips go into the body... or do they roll under the rubber gasket.

Hello Vig,

I have some Au-ve-co Window Reveal Moulding Fasteners P/N 4657731 left over from a restoration of a 1963 Impala. My 1963 Corvette Shop Manual instructions for Reveal Moulding removal has very tiny pictures that seem to show the same fasteners were used on Corvettes. There's probably around 90 left in the box so if the picture below looks like it would work for you I'll mail some to you.

The picture is posted rotated from it's mounting position on the car. The fastener clips onto the windshield frame's lip before the glass and rubber seal are installed. The fastener's gripping end engages clips that are captured with-in the Stainless Steel Reveal Moulding. The clips in the Reveal Moulding have protrusions that get snagged by the teeth just visable in the rectangular opening as seen in the picture. When installed on the car the fastener's mounting clip end is under the windshield's rubber seal and the fastener's gripping end lays against the rubber seal.

On my SS the above clips as well as the clips captured with-in the Reveal Moulding were rusted to the point of being either weak or completely gone. Perhaps the clip(s) in your problem area are weak, missing their gripping teeth or are completely missing.

Please keep in mind that all of the above is based on 1963 cars, I can't speak for 1964s.

E-mail me a fax number and I'll send you a copy of the picture in my Shop Manual.

So these clips hook up into the body

On other clips IN the body..

There was NO rust in the window channel AT ALL

Yes I was shocked too!

I think we just have a mis alignment

It was FLUSH before the install.
