Howdy,

Just wondering if anyone has tried to stuff an LS1/6 into a C4 yet. It is possible? What all has to change?

while anything is possible, the third generation chevy small block is very different than previous generations. This basically means many things are different, all the way down to the engine mounts.

Youll have wiring issues, a new tranny is likely needed, engine mounts are different, and the front spring is calibrated for your engine weight so a 300lb loss off the front will make the car sit higher.

But it has been done. I would just recommend you to mod your existing engine.

they've done them in 3rd gen camaro's before :D

yeah since i've seen a post with an LS1 in a 3rd gen camaro going mid 11's with some mods i'm very tempted in buying a wrecked 4th Gen F body and swapping the motor trans and rear end into mine. everything bolts up nicely especially the T-56 trans :D

although i do got a good LT1 i'm buying from a friend from his 96 Imp SS he wrecked but the more i think about an LS1 in my 82 Z/28 the more appealing it is to me!

I've seen a special motor mount in Vette Mag....or Corvette Fever...that would let you complete this install....
But?????

I agree. I talked to a shop near Orlando that was doing this; considered shipping my car across the country, but opted to have a 406 built. major project; major dinero, swapping to the TPI, etc.

Set you goal precisely; do you homework on cost with shops that have DONE what you wish, and decide. One cannot take enough time, aforehand, to ensure the best result. Part of the issue is that most shops talk a lot more than they actually do. The internet was a HUGE ally for me in my research.

I also trust Jim at Jim's Performance, in MD with things like this.

I found more Vette shops in Florida than anywhere.
