I am about 6 years, 60,000 miles down the road from the "water pump, optispark, all three seals in front cover" replacement. Car has run great. Miles are catching up to that repair and deferred maintenance of the fuel system.

Now chasing a slight coolant leakage thought to be water pump bolt threads. Also changing out injectors, O2 sensors, and notorious leaky LT1 intake manifold gaskets.

My question you wonder?

How long does experience show your LT1 engine front seals, especially water pump drive seal and optispark drive seal to last before they started leaking?

After 6years/60000 miles should I expect to repeat the seals replacement?

Thanks for your inputs.

Hard to tell exactly. All I can say is, if I had that all taken off (Opti, water pump, crank hub) and I was questioning whether or not to replace those seals, I'd probably do it. Others may tell you, if you aren't experiencing problems "don't fix what is not broke". My experience is it may not be leaking now, but by the time I get it put back together it is.
