I have a rattle noise coming from my shifter knob, particularly during loading. It seems I can reduce the rattle by pressing on the knob cover or holding the knob tightly. It could be my imagination that the noise goes down because I am covering the knob more. I've replaced the key and also put some teflon tape around the shifter threads in hopes it would cushion the vibration between the knob and shaft. Nothing seems to help. It is a stock shifter and knob. The transmission is working perfectly. Does anybody else have this problem? Solution?

Are you sure it's the knob and not the shifter boot? My 96 has a rattle from loose screws where the shifter boot frame attaches to the console
I've never seen a ZF 6 sp that didn't rattle and make some noise!!:boogieFact is about any 6sp in a C4 or C5 Corvette is noisier than most!!:thumb :upthumbs
