Does anyone know what became of the original dyno information that was supplied to the Musuem by Mercury Marine? At one time the Musuem said that once all the information was cataloged they were going to make available to each of the owners the original Dyno information for each LT5. That was 3 years ago.

I believe that the Museum still has them, but someone mentioned that GM did not want them released yet due to potential law suits. Ford was sued over the HP ratings on the Cobra, so maybe GM is worried that someone would sue them if their 375 HP LT5 was not as strong as someone else's 375 LT5.

It was my understanding that GM wanted the engines to dyno to within 10% of rated horsepower but Mercury Marine held all the engines to within 5% of rated.

On what information do you base that understanding?

It was something that I read a few years ago. How valid it was I don't know. I'll attempt to sift through my reading material this weekend and attempt to find the source. The older I get the fuzzier the sources become. If it was in print surely of all the people visit this site somebody else must have read it.

Last I heard, the NCM had the Dyno sheets, but due to legal issues, GM will not allow them to release copies of the paperwork at this time.
